In the article below I will be covering 5 players out of the 2024 Class that have shown over the years that their attention to detail, has got them to where they are at today. Some of these individuals have college offers, some are college committed, no matter what though – they are all prepped for a memorable Senior season ahead.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Alli Clark Alli Clark 5’7″ | CG Iowa City-Regina | 2024 State IA is going to be a player this upcoming season that is going to have to perform, if her Regina High School team wants to make it back to the State Tournament. Something that I think is more than doable. Clark is an off-guard that stresses the little details of the game, leading to a lot of success on both sides of the floor for herself. Other than having a decent mixture of speed and talent, Clark knows situational basketball. With the type of players that Regina is losing this season, Clark will be her teams second option offensively. If she can knock down shots when the ball is rotated to her and take care of it late in games, this Regals team could make some waves once again this 2023-2024 season. It’s going to take some Will, but if there is a Will, there is a way.
One of the biggest and more skilled players out of this 2024 Class is Kahlie Hill Kahlie Hill 6’3″ | C Calamus-Wheatland | 2024 State IA of Calamus-Wheatland High School. Hill stands at 6’3 and does WORK with her back to the basket. Something that I admire about her game is the ability to score in limited space, with limited dribbles and with limited time on the clock. If her team can get her the ball near the rim, with her back to hoop and some adequate timing, it’s most likely going to be a bucket for Hill. Defensively she is just as dominate. An individual that everyone needs to know about when attack their defender because if they don’t, it’ll end in a block party for Hill. This high school season I expect big numbers and games out of Hill before she finishes off her Senior season. Someone with this mixture of size and skill is a college level talent but in the end, I’m not so sure that’s what Hill wants. All in all, she is going to take care of business coming up here in a few weeks and that’s all that matters.
A high-level talent that is coming back from injury for her Senior season is Tyme Boettcher Tyme Boettcher 5’11” | CG Panorama | 2024 State IA and she is prepped for a productive winter ahead with her Panorama High School team. Boettcher is a crafty and quick-thinking Guard. She plays the Point position to a T but has the ability to shoot it from deep at a consistent rate when her teammates create. Moving forward, the little details of her game are what will separate her and help her succeed this season/at the next level. Coming off an injury can be difficult and sometimes you really have to adapt. I think that over-time Boettcher will do just that. She is a good enough passer down the floor to be able to produce in the half court or the full court at a steady rate and that is something that jumps out to any evaluator watching. This season Panorama is going to have a shot at the 2A Title once again with Boettcher as their leader. If she takes care of her own business, trusts in her teammates and they show up, their team is going to be very difficult to beat but we will just have to wait and see.
Highlights
Yazmeen Whitsitt Yazmeen Whitsitt 5’8″ | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA , a Maryville (MO) basketball commit, is one of my favorite guards out of this 2024 Class to watch and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table for her Senior season of High School ball. Whitsitt has a flame thrower for an arm shooting the basketball but she is also very shifty and coordinated off of the dribble, attacking her opponents. When you take these two skills into consideration, I would count Whitsitt as a Combo Guard right now, more than anything else. Her ability on offense speaks for itself and it will translate to the collegiate level in most regards. Decorah High School is going to be looking at Whitsitt to lead their team once again this winter with her elite guard play. She will look replicate what she has done in years past and hope that her team can come together in major moments to secure some meaningful wins this winter. As always, if everyone stresses the little stuff early on in the year, it’ll make a huge difference come Playoff time.
Breck Mills Breck Mills 6’1″ | PF Southeast Valley | 2024 State IA is another one of those athletes out of this 2024 Class that is committed to play at the collegiate level after her Senior high school season but she won’t let that take away from putting together a big run this winter. Mills stands at 6’1 and has a superior mixture of size/athleticism. There aren’t many players out there, that Mills comes across in Iowa with similar length and skill-set to her own. It’s taken years of dedication and patience working at the craft she loves to get where she is at today. This article is called “Small Details” and I think that Mills really embodies what it means to work on those details. She displays to everyone else that if you worry about running your own race, you will win in the end and in more ways than one. It’s as simple as that.
