FILM STUDY TIME! In this article we break down five prospects, the AAU season's they put together, and we discuss what their future might look like this upcoming Winter for High School ball.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

We are getting to a point where what you see is what you get out of Sophia Bouchard. What I mean by that is, you can know what to expect out of the PG/CG. Bouchard is consistent, she is going to make the right play, she will always look for the extra pass, and she is better than average at knocking down an open shot from deep whenever the defense decides to sag off of her. As a Sophomore last Winter she did a great job of showing her worth each and every contest she played. That was no different this AAU season either. She didn't ever try to force any stupid action or mistakes. Instead, she let the game come to her and she had success whenever she was on the floor because of that. All in all, I'm excited to see what Bouchard does this season for her Junior year at North Polk. She should be on of their standout's once again but we will just have to wait and see about that when the season gets here.

Emmy Horn is one of the next upcoming prospects to know about of the state of Iowa out of the 2031 Class. You might recognize the last name Horn because Eden Horn is one of the tallest prospects we have throughout the state as a whole at the high school level right now. Well this is her little sister and she might be young but she isn't so "little", per se. It looks like Emmy is going to follow in the footsteps of big sis and she will end up standing between 6'1-6'4. If this is true, which it seems to be at this moment it time, then we are looking at another dominating force in between the blocks. This AAU season Horn was dominant with her AIA EYBL JR team. She ate up space down the floor like no other and that, along with her height and dedication combined so that she could make some impactful plays as the season went on. It's crazy to think but the Horn sisters will get a chance to play together over the next few years and I'm not sure who is going to stop that duo at the 1A Class level based on their size alone.

Van Buren County held their own last season posting an overall 15-8 record of their season as a whole with some convincing wins at both home and on the road. They're real difference maker for the group, who I'm sure will be back with even better numbers this Winter. was Freshman Guard - Adalyn Snowgren. Snowgren led the team in PPG with over 13 on over 45% shooting from the field. She isn't the tallest hooper but she also led the team in RPG, demonstrating that she isn't afraid to get in the middle and mix it up with anyone that might be waiting. If she wants it, there isn't much that could stand in her way that is going to stop her. We saw that throughout the Winter and we saw it this Spring/Summer on the road as well for AAU ball. Snowgren showed off her able shooting stroke, her quick decision making, and that she can be a piece of something bigger than herself if she keeps working at it. She just needs to stay in love with the process and this game could take her to some cool places at the end of the day.

We are really going learn what Mesa Zellmer is all about this Winter at Hinton High School. Zellmer has had the luxury of competing at Hinton with some really talented Guard's over her career thus far but now there is going to be a lot of room for opportunity with how many they graduated from year's past so we are going to have a chance to see who could really step up to be their leader at the Guard positions. One of those players will be Zellmer. Zellmer is coming off of a respectable AAU campaign with her AIA program out of DSM. She showed off her crafty play making ability in multiple events these last few months and she has shown steady progression in her game over the last few years. She should be one of the best Guards on the floor at all times this upcoming season so it all comes down too how she can build off of that.

It's going to be an important season for Grace McCann coming up at Waukee Northwest this Winter. McCann might only be a Sophomore this year but she has high expectations on her shoulders. She has always been very efficient, just like her older sister. So efficient that it's noteworthy for college evaluators at this time because she has having these performances on some of the biggest stages across the Country throughout the Spring/Summer. She isn't the type that has been killing it as just a scoring threat but as an all around player. She makes the right choices almost every time a decision is put in front of her, she can score with the best of them, she is a dog on defense, and she is extremely coach-able. Again, McCann might be young but if I'm a college recruiter out of the Midwest, I'm making some calls to see if I can get her on campus ASAP moving into this Fall. This is someone you would consider a natural in the game and we don't see that too often anymore.
