SubscribeI caught Alisha Peavy-6’2 WHATEVER SHE WANTS TO PLAY on video and knew I had to add her, just not sure where. I’m a REAL EVALUATOR, not just a wannabe and I can judge talent virtually however in order to give an honest assessment and not copy off anything that anyone else has said or written, no matter how many offers are on the table, I need to see for myself. Peavy was one of many players who got added who took advantage of playing in the PGH Top 250 EXPO, I always have where I’ll be posted here so the ball is in YOUR court, here is part 1
Peavy makes her debut at #13 and let me start with she’s “long and athletic” which will always be the base and she stands over “the magic number” which is 6’0. Watching her score around the basket and off the dribble, not to leave out dropping the jumper on that video I mentioned earlier all told me that she was a #D1Lock when you put everything together that I’ve just said. Watching her in person was a game changer because she did all of that against next-level competition, she handled the ball cost to coast after rebounding, she also saw the floor in the open court as well as in the set but her understanding how to create her shot and drop it under pressure was very nice. So was her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots and yes, she rebounded on both ends and did a good job defensively
Highlights
Ramos is a player I had lost track of and she was initially on one of my “add on” lists yet with players moving to different states for Prep Schools, I just didn’t know. What I did know is that she can play and her being “heady” and understanding how to run a team was something you can’t teach because she did things instinctively. Many won’t get that, no problem, but she is a problem and can hurt the defender numerous ways like her attacking the basket with either hand to score or dishing off the dribble. She also does a good job seeing the floor in the set as well as in transition but her mid to long-range jumper is another huge plus
James was one of those players that caught my eye at last season’s Sandra Meadows Classic however her performance at the Girls TABC Showcase punched her ticket which was validated at last weekend’s The Opening. I love watching “on the court” progression and her shear strength around the basket is a game changer as she BATTLES and scores after contact. She’s versatile enough to play multiple positions and her creating her shot to attack off the dribble or drop the jumper is going to be a problem for defenders yet on the flip, she creates problems defending both in and outside the paint
Spencer For Hire was a hit television show yet I envision her being a hit on the tele at the next level. She was also added after her performance at the PGH Top 250 and what I enjoyed off the top was , how did I word it, “high energy” because she falls into that “never takes a play-off” type of player, picture the Energizer bunny commercial because she keeps going and going. One thig I want to add other than her ability to put the ball in the basket multiple as well as stopping players from doing that is the things that can change the momentum, like taking charges and diving for loose balls, in the air and on the floor
Manuel had me write ” you need a manual to defender her” but watching her ay my All Eyez On Me Individual Showcase I host with Austin Elite told me she would eventually be added but her performance at the PGH Top 250 Expo expedited the process. Her ability to score multiple ways “in the flow” has always been nice yet she showed me something you can’t teach, how to take the game over on both ends, the pull-up jumper in the set, the stop and pop in transition or her acrobatic finishes after contact are all nice yet so is her “on the ball” pressure coupled with quick hands for steals but I can’t leave out her “playing the passing lane”
