Libby Fandel Libby Fandel 5’11” | SF Cedar Rapids Xavier | 2025 State IA has some options as it pertains to her future on the basketball court and I wound’t be surprised if that list of options ended up growing over the next six months. Fandel is a, “do it all”, type Guard. She has great size at right around 5’10-6’0, while being extremely coordinated and skilled with the ball in her hands. The progression of Fandel the past 3-4 years has been eye-opening from an outside point of view. She has gotten to a point where whenever she shoots the ball, it looks like it is going in, no matter the distance from the hoop or where she might be on the court. When it comes to high school ball, Fandel has been the life-force for her team for a few years now. If they want to win, she has to have an impactful game, usually scoring the ball at a high rate. This Xavier program is one that is known for their toughness and team-play. There are a handful of different players out of this group that have some skill but no one more than Fandel at this point. It’ll be interesting to see where she ends up for her collegiate career but wherever it is, she is going to kill it if put in the right situation.
I’ve said it for three years now and I’m going to say it until she graduates. Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5’10” | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA is the best natural Point Guard in Iowa. Throughout a state that has several high level players who will get a chance to play at the next level, no one controls their team better than Zediker. She is the definition of a game leader at her position, while being able to set the pace of play and tone of the contest early on. Don’t get me wrong, Zediker is one of the best scorers in the state when it comes to her individual skill but she does a great job of getting everyone else around her involved in the action. After this season comes to a close, Zediker will look to help lead her All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL team to another national title. With the players that their roster just brought in, they are going to be the team to beat this year on the EYBL circuit and Zediker will be the face of that team. Something she should be proud of. As it pertains to this Update, Zediker holds her position in our rankings at #4.
Journey Houston Journey Houston 5’11” | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA is going to take her talents to the Hawkeyes after her high school career comes to a close but right now she is only worried about one thing and that is bringing home a State Championship. Houston is the definition of a gamer and a difference maker. She stands at 5’10 with great wherewithal on the court. A majority of the time, she beats her opponents down the floor, usually scoring easy buckets in transition. If not, she is skilled enough to either take her matchup into the post for an easy look near the rim or she can use her patterned step-back move to create some space for a jump-shot behind the three point line. This Davenport North Wildcats team is legit. They have 3-4 college level players at the moment, with two of those being future Power 5 competitors. If they play team basketball and their role players step up this post season, they are going to be one of the teams to beat going in the State Tournament.

The Johnston Dragons have been dominant this season unlike any other and a big reason for that is the play of Amani Jenkins Amani Jenkins 6’2″ | C Johnston | 2025 State IA in the middle. Jenkins has been everything the Dragons needed and more to solidify their team as the best in the state in the 5A Class coming in this season. She has owed her matchups in the lane, she has put up consist numbers in every one of her contests, and she has been relentless going after the ball while staying out of foul trouble for the most part. At the Post position, there really isn’t anything that Jenkins can’t do on the high school floor and that’s been on full display this winter. Usually one of two things happens when it comes to powerhouse teams at the high school level. Either there are “too many cooks in the kitchen” and it’s a power struggle OR everyone plays selflessly and the team is unstoppable. The Dragons have been the second of those two options so far this winter and I don’t see them losing because of it. After her high school carer, Jenkins will be joining the Golden Eagles of Marquette to continue on her basketball journey but before that, she is looking to win a ring or two with the Dragons first.

Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6’0″ | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA is a Top 10 player in the country for the 2025 Class according to ESPNW and I can see why. Bourrage’s game is legit. She is a player that is a killer offensively and a show-stopper defensively. At the high school level, Bourrage moves around as a Combo Guard. She demonstrates the ability to score on any type of defender, no matter the size and she is always showing off a deep “bag” when it comes to her skill work in both the half and full-court. As a recruiter or evaluator, there are a lot of questions an individual needs to answer before they can be considered this highly of a recruit. Things like; Can the player score at all three levels? Can the player facilitate for others? Do they have natural athletic ability? Mentally, where are they at compared to everyone else their age? What is their demeanor when things go wrong or when they lose? Is this person a role player or a play-maker? Is this person a leader? Ect.. Bourrage answers all of these questions with flying colors. As long as she stays dedicated, no one but herself is going to be able to slow her down on the hardwood. If she stays locked in, she is going to continue to shine.
