MLK Bash: Youngsters

The MLK Bash took place today at Eau Claire HS in Columbia and Prep Girls Hoops was in the gym. Who were some of the Youngsters in the event. Let's talk about some of these players who currently are in Middle School playing at the varsity level. his is the future of basketball in the Palmetto State. Braylin a left-handed guard has already picked up of college offers despite just being a freshman. JaNyia plays the game extremely physical and NEVER takes a playoff while on the court. She understands on how to work for position or her angle herself to grab a rebound on both ends of the court. Cunningham recently picked up an offer from Boston College. JaNyia really likes to play the game through contact and excels on both ends the floor with her all hustle and being a leader on the floor. She came into the contest yesterday averaging 9.9 ppg and 5.8 rebounds. Aneya finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds in the win over Lower Richland HS. Britt plays aggressive in the paint and seems to be most effective while close to the bucket.   [player_tooltip player_id='444371' first='Ashley' last='Walker'] - North Augusta HS   Walker really has a nose for the ball on both ends of the floor. Ashley was constantly around the ball today here in the win vs Gray Collegiate. She and her teammates didn't sub the whole game and played 32 minutes. Trinity was able to set up shop out in the corners while receiving the ball in the pocket for her shot. Delly scored 7 points in the win over Military Magnet today. Scarlett was able to knockdown some open looks while on the perimeter. Howell will surely be looked upon on the years to come for the Lady Hurricanes basketball future. She came into the contest averaging 11.3 ppg this season. Kaleigh plays well beyond her years already on the hardwood. She surely doesn't lack any confidence with her game and court vision. Ailema a left-handed forward will surely be counted on down the road for this program. She really brings hustle to the floor and a willingness to learn.   [player_tooltip player_id='562062' first='Raina' last='Mayers'] - Gray Collegiate   Raina saw good action yesterday playing 27 minutes for the Lady War Eagles. Mayers and her teammates saw plenty of action since only 6 girls played in the game. Raina claimed 6 rebounds off the glass in the loss to North Augusta HS. Head Coach Brandon Wallace has plenty of talent moving forward on this roster here at Gray Collegiate. Lauren knocked down a short jumper from the elbow and claimed a few boards in the process. Willis doesn't play timid at all for her age and just being in the 7th grade.
