Davey Crocket is quietly putting together a super impressive season, as they now sit at 16-1 with some really impressive wins. Tullock has been the teams most consistent scorer and playmaker all season long. In Tuesday’s win over Elizabethton Tullock scored 18 points with 9 rebounds. In doing so, she surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career (and she’s only a ’26). Congrats kid! That’s big time!
Byrd had herself a night! She went off for a career high 20 points on six made 3’s. When Byrd is hitting 3’s, Tullock is scoring in every way, Ferguson is passing out dimes, and Story is dominating the paint….this team is REALLY GOOD! Every team needs that dead-eye, stone-cold three point threat, and Byrd can be that for DC.
Ferguson is simply steady. She doesn’t try to do too much…and has a great understanding of how to let the game come to her. I love following her game because she’s an old-school PG that is amongst the state’s leaders in assists. She finished with 11 points and 9 assists in the typical Ferguson fashion. Averaging 9 assists per game in a 32 minute high school game is simply absurd. Ferguson is legit!
Science Hill beat Jefferson County 44-41 on Tuesday night in a tightly knit battle. Green continues to impress for Science Hill has she led the way with 19 points on four made 3’s. Peyton Wood ’27 (Jefferson) just seems to be getting better and better as she had another terrific game: 19 points on five made 3’s. Wood is a future star!
North Green beat Sullivan East on Tuesday night 53-50. The North Green Twin Towers both had double doubles as Miller had 14 and 12, and Haley Baley had 14 and 10. Ella Head had 13 points (6 in the 4th quarter) to help hold off the rallying Sullivan East team’s comeback.
I became really impressed with North Green over Christmas, and have continued to like them! In the modern era of spacing and 3’s….it’s fun to watch an old school team pound it in the paint. And if Head is hitting from the outside, this team gets dangerous quick.
Morristown West beat Dobyns Bennet 52-48 on Tuesday night in a fun one. Weddington continues to show up and show out in big games! She finished with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jhaniya Mitchel had 12, and MW did just enough to keep up their winning ways. West doesn’t have that one BIG TIME scorer, but they have enough weapons with their multi-pronged attacked to beat a lot of good ball clubs.
Coffee County (17-3) played its first home game since December 9th, and moved to 1-0 in district play beating Shelbyville 73-61. Coffee County has the weapons to compete for a state championship…and this stretch run will be super important as they seek to hit postseason in full stride. Vinson had 22, Natalie Barnes Natalie Barnes 5’7″ | SG Coffee Co. | 2026 State TN had 21, and the impressive freshman Jules Ferrell Jules Ferrell 5’7″ | PG Coffee County Central | 2027 TN finished with 13. These three make a really tough trio.
Highlights
I’ve seen Walker Valley play a few times now, and I’m a big fan of both Chloe Poe Chloe Poe 5’6″ | PG Walker Valley | 2024 State TN and Jayla Lindsey’s games. Lindsey is a big PG that is comfortable facing pressure, attacks the rim, and has a nice jumper. Poe is a diverse player that can score from multiple areas. They both defend with passion….and now Walker Valley had 9 wins with a close loss to Cleveland and a OT win vs Silverdale over the past week.
