Cookeville beat Lebanon 51-36 for another District Tournament championship. The senior Isabel Garcia Isabel Garcia 5’10” | C Cookeville | 2024 State TN led her team with yet another double-double (15/10) and brought home tournament MVP honors.
Allie Gillies had a huge night with 13 points 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block. Not only is she a shooter, but her rebounding, steal, and block numbers are sky high for a guard.
Cara Lee Gilbert had 12 points. Macey Hudson had 9 points, 13 rebounds!, and a block.
Cleveland High School brought home their District Tournament Championship last night with a 30 point win over Rhea. Lauren Hurst Lauren Hurst 6’3″ | PF Cleveland | 2025 State TN put up 25 points and masterful performance. Kyiah Westfield had 8 in the first half and finished with 11. ’25 Emma Smith Emma Smith 5’8″ | SG Cleveland | 2025 State TN , who’s been shooting lights out lately, scored 9 in the first half and finished with 12. Tamiah Tanner Tamiah Tanner 5’8″ | SF Cleveland | 2025 State TN finished with 11, and Callie Brewer Callie Brewer 5’9″ | SF Cleveland | 2024 State TN finished with 5.
Don’t county Rhea out yet….Sophomore Jenna Burchard Jenna Burchard 6’0″ | PF Rhea Co. | 2026 State TN recently exploded for 17 points and 9 rebounds in the semifinals versus Walker Valley. Those that know her game know Buchard has all the skills to be a tremendous player.
The freshman star was too much for Unicoi HS, as Tennessee won their consolation game. Addie Wilhoit had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals in limited minutes. Keeyanah Foote Keeyanah Foote 5’7″ | PF Tennessee | 2025 State TN added 9 points, and 8 total players scored for Tennessee.
The Farragut vs Bearden Championship game was a great one! The atmosphere was electric, and both teams came out ready to compete. Sophomore KJ McNealy was sensational in the first half with 11 points, as it was only a 2 point game at the half. Farragut is realllllllly dangerous, and when McNealy is scoring like she did on Monday night, they’ve got another gear they can get to as a team.
Heritage continued their dominant season as they defeated Lenoir City 61-42 to become District Tournament champs. Swaney had 17. Jay Cocker also had 17. Chloe Heath Chloe Heath 6’0″ | SF Clinton | 2025 State TN gave contributions across the board.
Swaney (MVP), Heath, Jay Coker, and Kenley Coker were named All-Tournament Team.
Grainger beat Claiborne in the district consolation game (54-45). Adison Hayes, the district underclassman of the year, got hot early and stayed hot on her way to 22 points on 7 made threes. Hayes.Is.A.Bucket.
McMinn Central routed Meigs (74-33) on their way to another district championship. Look at these halftime numbers:
Molly Masingale: 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists (5/8 from 3)
Karina Bystry: 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists (4/7 from 3)
The last time I saw those numbers, my son was beating my tail on NBA 2K with Trae Young. I mean come on….look at the numbers! It’s just not fair!
Totals:
Masingale: 27 points 7 rebounds 3 blocks (6 made 3s)
Bystry: 26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 made 3s
Livingston lost to White County in the district championship 68-55. For Livinston’s style of play, they just can’t allow that many points. They scored they ball just fine:
Keely Mullins: 20 points, 5 rebounds
Ellie Butler: 24 points, 4 rebounds
No one will want to face this Livingston club heading into regions.
Highlights
Big congrats to Chloe Heath Chloe Heath 6’0″ | SF Clinton | 2025 State TN . In helping lead Heritage to both the regular season championship, and district tournament championship, not only did she bring home both regular season all district honors, as well as all tournament team honors…..but she also scored her 1,000 career point in the district tourney. Well done young lady!
The ’25 Pickett PG led the way as the Lady Bobcats beat Clay County in the district championship. This Pickett squad seemingly had a different kid that can step up on any given night and lead the way. Last night it was Emmy Lowe Emmy Lowe 5’9″ | SG Pickett Co. | 2025 State TN : 31 points and 13 assists!! as she was named Tournament MVP.
Gosh I like this White County team, and they looked really balanced in their tournament championship performance last night, winning 60-48 over Livingston. Ava Jones Ava Jones 6’1″ | PF Hutchison | 2026 State TN earned MVP honors with 16 points and 7 boards. The guards for WC were tremendous: Gracie Butler Gracie Butler 5’8″ | SG Upperman | 2026 State TN had 19, Bella Winningham Bella Winningham 5’7″ | SG White County | 2026 State TN knocked down four 3s, and Lakelyn Grasty Lakelyn Grasty 5’7″ | PG White Co | 2026 State TN gave valuable minutes as well. White County is now 29-2, and escaped with a district championship crown in a game that their best player was held in check ( Celeste Reed Celeste Reed 5’11” | C White Co. | 2024 State TN ). The WC guard play was the difference in this one, and that’s a great sign for this club.
