Continue ReadingThe star of Durham Academy had a really solid 2023-2024 campaign as she showed her ability to consistently run the team’s offense. She has a strong knack of knowing what to do when the ball is in her hands. She is a pass-first guard that looks to get others involved. She is really good in pick and roll situations and does a good job of drawing in the help defender then recognizing where the open teammate is for a shot. She can slow the game down when needed and knows how to get herself out of trouble when the double comes. This is a prospect that could have a very strong summer with Carolina All-Stars and we’ll be keeping our eyes on her.
Sadie Faulkner
Sadie Faulkner
The 3x All-Conference star from Kannapolis, NC had a really good season for the Lady Wonders, helping her team nearly quadruple its win totals from the 2022-2023 campaign. Sadie has really developed nicely over the last few years and it is clear that A.L. Brown Head Coach Kayla Crayton has given her the ultimate green light and rightfully so as she averaged over 14 ppg and put up points in a hurry.
Sadie is very quick off the dribble and has a knack for getting inside the lane and going strong to the rim. At times, teams will send a double to get the ball our of her hands as she knows how to create. She is a really good ball handler and excels in the transition game as this plays right into her strengths of being able to finish strong at the rim, even through contact. With her tremendous improvement shown from her sophomore to junior year seasons, she is sure to be a player to watch over the course of the next year.
Quincie can flat out play. Averaging over 15 ppg last season for Athens Drive, Quincie proved to be a physical forward with size that can score and rebound the basketball. On film you’ll find her going up high for the rebound, then taking it the length of the floor.
She’s a very good shooter with range. She has shown to that she can knock down the 3 ball with consistency which forces defense to change the way they have to defend her. At times you will see defenders deny her the ball just to try to get her out of rhythm and out of sync. Quincie was able to double her points per game average in just one season and we won’t be surprised at all to see her game take another step forward in the upcoming season.
Zahnia Long
Zahnia Long
While Phillip O’Berry may not have had the on-court success it had hoped for last season, there was surely a bright spot for the Lady Cardinals that caught our attention. Zahnia averaged over 15 ppg last season and her ability to handle the ball really makes her stand out. She is an exceptional ball handler who knows how to create to get inside the paint. She has the ball on a string and will always be the unselfish player that looks to get others involved in the offense. This is certainly a player with a lot of potential when she is able to play the game to her strengths.
Sophia is a prospect that has largely remained under the radar but they’re a ton of upside with this guard from Hough. At nearly 6’0 tall, she handles playing the off guard position very well and her size gives opponents issues. Defensively, her length at the top of the key gives opposing guards trouble as it is very difficult to shoot over her. Offensively, she is a better shooter than some may realize with excellent shot mechanics. She can hit the spot up three and you can find her knocking it down off the dribble. There is something very intriguing about her game that would make a potential coach at the next level very excited. All the tools and fundamentals are in place for her to be on the verge of a very big year future ahead.
As Hough’s primary ball handler and leading scorer, Chloe has been high on our radar since a very impressive showing at the North Carolina Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo in 2023. Chloe does some really good things when the ball is in her hands. She understands how to attack the lane and is not afraid to go to the rim. She can get hot in a hurry and will earn trips to the free throw line after contact. She can play either of the guard spots but I really like her at the PG position which allows her play the half court game and execute the offense according to her fit. Chloe is a prospect long overdue for a breakout year and this season could certainly be it.
Highlights
Danauje possesses an extremely high basketball IQ. When you watch her play, you will find great basketball awareness and anticipation. I absolutely love the way she plays the game. This floor general is very instinctual with no wasted movements or possessions. She can read the defense well and will utilize ball fakes to get open and knock down shots. She is very good at utilizing quick change of direction moves that will give her wide open lanes to the basket. Very vocal with her teammates and will help direct traffic on both ends of the floor. Danauje can provide some value to the right program at the next level and she is sure to have a breakout senior campaign.
