The Lady Raiders finished undefeated in conference play (13-0) and notched 3 wins in the NCHSAA playoffs. 2x All-Conference guard Josiah “Jo-Jo” Gilchrist played a big role in the teams success this season. It is clear that Jasiah takes pride in her defense. She gets low on her opponents and is able to lock on their hips. She is lightening quick as she can get from Point A to Point B in a hurry. The lefty spent a lot of time playing the off guard spot which works well for her as she knows how to spot up and shoot it, averaging over 13 ppg last season. Very good recognition to what the defense is doing and she doesn’t force what isn’t there. She will take the jumper if open and is a very solid passer who can be found threading the needle to teammates in traffic. Strong finisher at the rim and can finish through contact. Certainly a player that is due for a breakout season next year.
Highlights
The 6’2 left-handed forward just picked up an offer from Kent State and they just might be on to something. There is very high upside with Nykira who appears to only be scratching the surface of what she can do. She averaged a double double last season and has a very broad skillset that allows her to play a multitude of positions. She is able to use her length and strong athletic ability on defense to cause problems. She is able to shoot right over the top of her defenders from the wing and she can handle the ball very well for her size. She is a player to heavily keep your eyes on next season.
Jahnae will be the clear leader for Central Cabarrus next season as the team will lose it’s star Kyra Lewis to graduation. She will be up for the challenge. Jahnae has shown that she knows how to control the tempo of the game and take over the offense when she is needed to do so. She is a powerful guard who you never have to question her level of effort. She will defend as if her life depends on it and she will dive after every loose ball. She attacks the rim hard and she uses her body well when she drives to the basket. She is very strong and can absorb contact on the way to the free throw line. She is certainly deserving of a lot more attention on the recruitment trail and she could be a good fit for the right program.

As the 2nd leading scorer for the Seaforth Lady Hawks last season, Katherine did a very solid job averaging over 10 ppg. She greatly improved on her freshman campaign that saw her help lead her team to the 2A State Championship Game in Chapel Hill in 2023. Katherine, who also doubles as a star on the soccer field, is very unique in that she can play a number of positions on the court. She can run PG duties, play off off the ball at the 2 or she can play on the wing. She has developed into a very good rebounder and can be seen rebounding the ball then taking it the length of the floor in transition. Just a very smart overall player who is sure to be even more productive next season.
This 6’0 Knightdale High School star has a very bright future ahead. College coaches must take notice of what has been a VERY UNDER THE RADAR player in North Carolina’s 2026 class. Ayo is a super athletic wing that you can obviously see has some major potential. She can run end to end and has no problem with playing the transition game. She looks very comfortable with her back to the basket and has shown to be able to hit the turn around jumper right over the top of her opponents. She rebounds at a very high rate and does a very good job on the box out. She does a good job getting her hands up to contest shots and this gives opponents problems given her size. She is very active and brings energy every time she steps on the floor. There is a lot to work with here for programs looking for a high upside player.
