It’s hard to find many players who played better than Addie Hafer Addie Hafer 5’5″ | SG Stone Bridge | 2024 State VA in the back half of the year. She was shooting the lights out of the ball and made second-team all-state. She was not someone I had on my radar early, but she was pretty undeniable late.
Gainesville guard Madison McKenzie Madison McKenzie 5’7″ | CG Gainesville | 2024 State VA was great this year. She is one of the fastest players in the state and tremendous on both ends. She is a solid spot-up shooter and has great hands on defense. Madison was named to the first team in the Cedar District and led a good Gainesville team in scoring with 15.3 PPG.
Lake Braddock was really good in the back half of the year, and a lot of that was because of Sarah Pritz Sarah Pritz 5’11” | SF Lake Braddock | 2024 State VA . Sarah is solid on both ends of the court and carried much of Lake Braddock’s offensive load. She finished second-team all-state.
Simone Pendleton Simone Pendleton 5’11” | SF Falls Church | 2024 State VA is as good a defender as anyone in NOVA. She repeated as Defensive Player of the Year and won District Player of the Year. Her length and versatility make her a force on defense. She is also a good scorer and can knock down shots. Simone was second-team all-state and finished her career as Falls Church’s all-time leading scorer.

Jahniya Marion Jahniya Marion 5’5″ | CG Centreville HS | 2024 State VA was a player that I got to watch a lot this season. He played on an outstanding Centreville team. Jahniya’s ability as a driver and passer unlocked a lot of offense for Centreville. Jahniya was first-team all-region.
Alysa Carrigan Alysa Carrigan 5’11” | SF Tuscarora | 2024 State VA is a naturally gifted defender. She has amazing instincts and great athleticism. Heading into this season, I was looking for Alysa to take a step forward because of the production Tusky lost. Alysa took a step forward and then some. She finished region player of the year and averaged 18.4 PPG, 7.7 RPG, and an unbelievable 7 SPG.
Highlights
Emma O’Connor Emma O’Connor 6’0″ | PF Westfield | 2024 State VA is another great two-way player here. The Concorde district is tough, and Westfield struggled as a team. People don’t give Emma the credit she deserves because of Westfield’s struggles over the past few years. Emma is a great defender in the paint and moves well. She can knock down open shots, put the ball on the floor, and attack the rim.
Having to list a player as good as Stella Gougoufkas Stella Gougoufkas 5’10” | SF James Madison | 2024 State VA as an honorable mention tells you all you need to know about this senior class in NOVA. Stella is a good defender and was this team’s best offensive option. She is a good athlete and skilled. Stella was dealing with an illness early in the year, and when she was out, you could tell how much it affected James Madison. Stella was second-team all-state in class 6.
Tia Chen Tia Chen 5’2″ | PG Briar Woods | 2024 State VA provided a steady hand for a terrific Briar Woods team this year. She is an elite passer and ball-handler and provides a lot for this Briar team. When Tia got hurt at the end of the year, you could tell Briar was missing something. She was first-team all-district and finished her career as the all-time assist leader in Briar Woods history.
