Coach Vick covered some of the top players in his three-part series on this weekend’s Battle. I have covered a few more of the point guard standouts that I was able to see play, including some familiar Oklahoma big school guards, a pair of big time Kansas teammates, and a newcomer that I don’t think will be a secret for long.
With a tremendous basketball pedigree (Four sisters played Division I basketball and dad played seven years in the NBA) and big game high school experience under her belt, Rhyian is a top-notch prospect. In a very physical game against the OK Swarm , Rhyian was too tough to stay in front of and was able to get to the basket with ease. Possesses a step back three-point jumper that players are never ready for, especially with it coming from her left. Just a very stylish smooth game, athletic layups, tough matchup for anyone.
SaMiyah and the Kansas Bluejays of B2B Elite came down to the Hive for the weekend and were very impressive. Samiyah has a scorers mentality, with a smooth shot and an unorthodox release that is hard to block. Hit three shots from behind the arc in the first half against an OK Select team that was trying to keep her in front of them. Does a great job getting in passing lanes and turning steals into layups. Played point when her teammate KaMyra Barber KaMyra Barber 5’9″ | PG Wichita Heights | 2025 State KS wasn’t in the game, but really excelled more off the ball. Has already picked up a Division I offer from Texas Rio Grand Valley, currently sits at the #10 spot for 2025 Kansas players.
Joining Samiyah in the backcourt was Wichita Heights teammate KaMyra Barber KaMyra Barber 5’9″ | PG Wichita Heights | 2025 State KS . A floor general in every sense of the world. Always has the game under control. A big strong guard, defenders trying to pick her up full court are not going to get much out of it. Also holding an offer from Texas Rio Grande, an obvious chemistry between her and her teammate Ellis would transfer very well to the next level. A great game manager to pair with an athlete like Ellis. Currently 14th on the 2025 Kansas rankings, I didn’t get to see her in “I have to go score” mode, as she didn’t need to. Would love to have another look at her later this summer.
Whitney Wollenberg

Another good floor general. The Swarm does a great job of working the ball inside, with Whitney and combo guard Eliana Florence being especially good entry passers. Whitney was able to score in traffic in a physical game against a very good BTR team. She has a quick shot off the dribble, and a tremendous feel for the game. Whitney has made her mark since her freshman season at Norman North and has a game that will translate well to the collegiate level.
Lilly Taliferro

A shifty point guard who changes speeds quickly and creates space very well. Her team was short-handed, playing with 5 players on Saturday, but the Elgin freshman was still able to shine throughout the day. Tries to get up the gut and make something happen, and it usually does happen. Can kick out to shooters well once she gets in to the lane, as well as leave nice drop offs for Tehya Bert inside. Possesses a tremendous layup package, made some show-and-go moves that had the defense backpedaling.
