Being able to watch these girls take their game to the next level has been exciting. This season has caused a lot of movement with players that have come out and proved themselves playing at a high level as well as some new names of player s that have gone overlooked. In this specific article we take a look at the back end of the Top 10 of the class and what they were able to do for 4 years.
Mullen was able to get back their winning ways this last season making it to the Great 8 under second year coach Tonia Jones. Allison Schwertner Allison Schwertner 6’3″ | SF Mullen | 2024 State CO , being the vet out of the bunch, has been able to see what winning looks like a high level. This has allowed her to put the team on her shoulders when called upon. The Boston commit was team-high in every statistical category and helped the team get through tough times.
Highlights
The anchor of Denver South women’s basketball for the last four years has been Nevaeh Millard Nevaeh Millard 5’7″ | CG Denver South | 2024 State CO . She has matured and improved her game year after year. Taking on different challenges each year and still coming in ready to play at a high level. She scored just over 1,400 points in her high school career, in essence, this shooting combo guard has handed out plenty of buckets. Nevaeh will head to Metro State to continue her playing career which seems to be a perfect fit in terms of playing style.
Anytime somebody brings up Mountain View women’s basketball team, Addison Branscum Addison Branscum 6’0″ | SG Mountain View | 2024 State CO names come up. She may be the state’s best kept secret in terms of efficiency on the offensive end of the floor. The 6’0 wing has a very mature game, she has her spots on the floor that she gets to and punishes defenses. Having to score at least 400 points in the last 3 seasons on 53% shooting from the field and 40% from the 3.
Highlights
There aren’t too many point guards in the state that are as tough as Brooke Gomez Brooke Gomez 5’8″ | CG Westminster | 2024 State CO as she never backs down from a challenge. Making her the prefect teammate to play with, knowing you won’t have to go into battle alone. This season she increased her points per game by 10 and averaged 21.4 pph along with 9 rebounds, which is also a career high. This Washburn commit has a shifty handle that keeps the defense on their toes, giving her the space to take what she wants offensively.
Douglas County has had 3 great years since Sofia Baldessari Sofia Baldessari 6’0″ | SG Douglas County | 2024 State CO transferred in from Cherry Creek. She managed to hit the 1000-point mark for her career as well as leading her team into two winning seasons for the first time since 2007-08. At 6’2 Sofia can operate on the block or out on the wing. She is great at using her body to create space in the paint for finishes at the rim, but she always has a deadly jumper that can spark a game change run.
