Dobyns-Bennett (24-8) 54

Farragut (21-13) 47

Dobyns-Bennett will head to the state tournament for the first time since 1995 after a super-tough win over Farragut on the road. After D-B had built a 17 point lead, the Lady Ads cut it to 45-40 with 1:26 left. Rae Evans and '27 [player_tooltip player_id='821689' first='Sally' last='McReynolds'] both hit huge FTs down the stretch, and Caroline Hill hit the final FTs that proved to be the nails in the coffin.

Huge shoutout to Caroline Hill '24 for breaking her own school record with her 78th three, as she led D-B with 19 points. She was also an impressive 7-7 from the FT, including 5-5 in the 4th quarter. The senior has had a huge post season run.

Reagan Hollowell '24 also got hot and hit two huge threes in the 2nd quarter.

[player_tooltip player_id='245376' first='Kaydence' last='Black'] also got into the scoring mix in the second, giving D-B a 26-14 hafltime lead.

In the 3rd, D-B's Payton Moore '24 hit her 2nd three pointer of the game extending the lead to 11 (31-20). Two more Hill layups, and a nice finish by Black, and the Lady Tribe were up 40-23 after 3 quarters.

The scrappy Lady Indians defense held Farragut scoreless for over 9:00 in the 2nd half--and that's how you win a game on the road. Eventually Farragut '26 [player_tooltip player_id='816585' first='KJ' last='McNealy'] got rolling, and Faragutt comeback began.

But, as stated above, the D-B combination of stops on D, and FTs down the stretch gave them the win.

Dobyns-Bennet will now face Coffee County (32-3) on Wednesday at 1:45.

Final stats for D-B:

I'm sorry to see this Farragut season be over. It was a special run, and to be in the Farragut community is know who big a deal it is to beat Bearden twice. Again, this was a team that was a game under .500 at Christmas, and battled through adversity to host a substate game. This team was a joy to cover all season....and they have a lot of talent returning next season as well.

One of the hardest things to do in basketball is make the leap from u0022pretty goodu0022 to u0022really goodu0022....and Neubert started to make the jump this season. She became a fill in the gap offensive player that learned to play nicely off Priest, McNealy, and Co. She could give you 8 poinst...or 15 depending on what the team needed. She fit wonderfully into their system and became a high efficiency scorer that also gave winning effort on D. Really excited two watch the Farragut returners next season defend their Region crown.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65e525aa16aab"} /-->

Cocke County (28-8) 54

Elizabethton (13-18) 53

This was an incredible, double OT battle to determine who'd advance. Elizabethton has been on a Cinderalla run as they are proof that basketball is so much about playing your best basketball at the right time of the season. But ultimately Cocke Co was too much, and they will advance to the state tournament for the first time since 1998!

Both teams traded small runs througout the 1st and 2nd quarters. For Elizabethton, I thought Marlee Mathena continued to look terrific. Reiley Whitson and Jumari Smalls both looked really confident getting to their jumpers, and EHS took a 22-20 halftime lead.

Cocke Cocke's Blakelyn Clevenger and Karmine Carmicheal were terrific through the 2nd half, and then into overtime, carrying the scoring load for their team. I thought [player_tooltip player_id='804755' first='Halle' last='Kitchen']'s defensive intensity at the point of attach was also a game changer in this one in the 2nd half. Kitchen is a winner.

Whitson and Michele Shields both had 15 on the night leading EHS. Mathena had 8, and Smalls had 7. I really like this Elizabethon teams fight and grit, and they have some really nice pieces returning next season.

For Cocke County, Clevenger had 18, and Carmichael finished with 15. These two kids are a two headed monster that had learned to play off each other incredibly well.

Northview Academy (23-9) 56

The Greenville Lady Devils continued their improbable run to the state tournament, defeated a Northview team that has been pretty dominant all season. Greenville overtime to make it happen, but won a huge OT victory over Northview Academy.

[player_tooltip player_id='889819' first='Kyla' last='Jobe'] '25 led Greenville with 17 points, while [player_tooltip player_id='405861' first='Anna' last='Shaw'] '24 also added 17 points. [player_tooltip player_id='405861' first='Anna' last='Shaw'] was incredibly efficient going 7-11 from the floor. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='907566' first='Maria' last='Lyde'] had 8, and that was about it for Greenville. Greeniville won a subtate game while going 1-16 from three, and 15-25 from the free throw line. Somehow, they figure out a way to pull how this huge win over a really good Northview squad.

The Lady Landers are headed back to the A state tourney after a tough battle with Sunbright. They will now face Pickett County on Wednesday at 8:15 CT.

In the first half, it was Makinna Shell, Izabella Christman, and Makenzie Street all hitting big shots, and the game was tied at 7 after one quarter.

Both teams traded punches throughout the rest of the game. Ryan Turbyfill then got rolling and knocked down two big threes. Addison Shannon hit a big three in the fourth to give Sunbright a brief lead, but Cloudland 's Saharra McKinney immediately responded.

Turbyfill led Clouland with 14. Shell added 8. McKinney finished with 7, and Christman had 6.
