We took in the games at the Ashton Arnold Memorial Day Opening hosted by LBI and Hardwood Inc at Legacy Early College. Let’s take a look at some Youngsters we saw play today from Greenville right here on your source for basketball coverage in the Palmetto State all year long.
Class of 2030:
Wow It’s that time of the year and we are already watching the Class of 2030 – current 6th graders. Well, a few that caught my eye this past weekend were Kirsten Fulton Kirsten Fulton 5'8" | SF Muller Road M.S. | 2030 SC and Maya Norwood Maya Norwood 5'10" | PF Marrington M.S. | 2030 SC . Fulton runs with Twelve Time and really does a nice job of handling the ball and defending. She was able to get to the rack quite easily at times. Kirsten attends Muller Road M.S. in Blythewood and plays up a age group for Twelve Two.
Norwood plays with the Lowcountry Premier Ballers based out of the Charleston area. Maya a left-handed rangy forward was able to finish at will around the cup. She did a nice job of keeping the ball up off the floor and finishing inside. She attends Marrington M.S. in Goose Creek.
Naja Gray Naja Gray 5'4" | PG Crayton M.S. | 2030 SC attends Crayton M.S. in Columbia. Gray runs with the Palmetto 76ers EYCL squad. Naja really set the tone from out top at times today with her point guard skills and utilizing the bounce pass to her teammates. She was able to take the ball coast to coast on a few occasions in transition.
Class of 2029:
Hannah Riles Hannah Riles 5'6" | PG Lake City | 2029 SC , Lauren Willis Lauren Willis 5'10" | PF Military Magnet | 2029 SC , Harmony Bostick Harmony Bostick 5'10" | SF South Florence | 2029 SC and Amuria Wright Amuria Wright 5'3" | PG Denmark-Olar | 2029 SC all run on the same team Twelve Time sponsored by NBA player Ja Morant. This Twelve Two coasted to two victories here today with Prep Girls Hoops in attendance. All 4 of these players saw good minutes this past season as 7th graders on the varsity level.
Riles plays poised and confident for her young age on the floor. She connected on some jumpers from the perimeter when she wasn’t setting up her teammates along the way. Hannah averaged 11.7 ppg this past season for Lake City HS.
Willis and Wright played each other this past season in the Class 1A Lower State Championship Game. Willis is a post player who really likes to play on contact at times and plays very aggressive for her young age. Wright likes to take her game to the cup with her ability to touch the paint and get the ball into the gaps. Willis attends Military Magnet while Wright plays at Denmark-Olar HS.
Bostick plays over at South Florence HS in the Pee Dee. Harmony was able to finish with both hands around the basket here today while going to work inside the paint. She finished through contact and got to the foul line at a good clip today.
Ayescia Coleman Ayescia Coleman 5'11" | C Chester | 2029 SC surely doesn’t play like a 7th grader down in the paint. Coleman attends Chester M.S. in Chester. Ayescia plays physical and really likes to work for position while drawing contact along the way. She will post up with her back to the basket and look to carve out space down low. Coleman was able to hit the glass on both ends of the floor.
Kaylah Julius Kaylah Julius 5'4" | PG Hopkins M.S. | 2029 SC attends Hopkins M.S. down in Lower Richland County. Julius was constantly around the ball to make a play for her team. The athletic Julius gets the ball down the floor in a hurry and really looks to defend and cause some chaos when needed.
Prep Girls Hoops is really excited for plenty of years to come here in the Palmetto State with the girl’s basketball game. This young group of talent in the 2029-2030 classes is just starting to scratch the surface for the future of hoops here in the Palmeto State.
