This event emphasized showcasing the prospect’s current skills using a comprehensive series of fundamental skills and small-sided defensive situations, while also providing 5 on 5 games to give evaluators a complete scope of how their skills translate to the next level. SkillCase offered athletes a unique experience of being coached exclusively by former female college and pro basketball players (9 total). The participants received maximum ball touches to showcase their abilities Friday and here are some of those prospects who particularly stood out during the event.
Evelyn Hoener
Evelyn Hoener
Evelyn Hoener (2029) was a top prospect on the court at SkillCase Friday as a 7th grader! She has strength, height, and athleticism like a sophomore. Evelyn demonstrated excellent footwork and ball handling control during that segment and stopped her opponents by cutting off their drives on defense. She used a high pick up to finish a contested layup through defenders and threaded a bounce pass for an assist during the games. Evelyn is a young prospect who we will certainly be keeping our eyes on as she approaches the high school level.
Samantha Fuhs Samantha Fuhs 5’11” | SF Dearborn Divine Child | 2027 State MI demonstrated her dynamic skillset Friday at SkillCase. She knocked down multiple wing 3’s with textbook shooting form then used her length to block a shot in the paint. Samantha drove through defenders and finished at the rim; she is an outstanding prospect from Divine Child.

Elle Lorente Elle Lorente 6’0″ | SF Eaton Rapids | 2027 State MI was one of the most impressive wings Friday at SkillCase. She has tremendous balance to catch and shoot from outside as she knocked down multiple 3’s, but also has the finesse to finish inside as she converted a floater off two feet. Elle caught a pass and used an effective reverse pivot to square her shoulders and finish off the glass against a defender. She is an excellent prospect from Eaton Rapids to keep your eyes on with Michigan Premier this spring.

Golden Nicholson Golden Nicholson 5’8″ | SG DeWitt | 2027 State MI was a shining star at SkillCase on Friday. She excelled in every segment and separated herself during the 1 v 1 scenarios and 5 v 5 games. Golden blocked a shot on her closeout, stopped her full speed drive on a dime to knock down a mid-range jumper, scored on a euro-step drive, and hit multiple 3’s outside. A couple skills that separated her were when she used a drag punch step to drive by her defender once, but used the same move again to bury a wing 3. Golden is a special prospect from Dewitt who you won’t want to miss with Drive Premier this spring.
Taylor Allen Taylor Allen 5’6″ | CG Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central | 2027 State MI had an all around great performance at SkillCase on Friday. She was one of the most vocal energizers of her teammates on the court and on the sidelines during the games. Taylor showed her shooting range hitting a deep 3 from top of the key and many more outside shots during the shooting segment. She sees the court well and fires the ball up to the wings in transition instead of using excess dribbles. Taylor is an enthusiastic player with great effort on the floor and will be a talented guard to watch play with Pride this spring.
