College coaches, media, and prospects invaded the Cage Fieldhouse at Swartz Creek to see a number of independent teams face off over the weekend. Michigan Storm was the headliner program, Northern Pride made the long trek from Northern Michigan, and the remaining teams joined in from all across lower Michigan. What made the Cagers Invitational tournament unique and exciting was the number of independent travel clubs competing at the tournament. The college coaches in attendance had the benefit of seeing many JUCO-NAIA prospects who are flying under-the-radar. Here are more of the 2027 prospects who impressed at the tournament.
Madison Eltringham
Madison Eltringham
Madison Eltringham contributed in every area to help her TC Elite 2027 team compete at the Cagers Invitational. She battled against taller opponents inside for offensive rebounds and scored through a foul in the paint. Madison created steals on defense and converted layups using her left. One of her best plays happened when she attacked her defender in the paint, froze her defender with a pivot dribble, then scored with her left. Madison knocked down a mid-range jumper from the wing and led the way for her team on both ends.
Lexie Fry
Lexie Fry
Lexie Fry performed at a high level for 1829 Scorpions at the Cagers Invitational. She got the job done on both ends, forcing turnovers and scoring at key moments for her team. Lexie showed her toughness and drive as she dove on the floor multiple times to secure loose balls. She stole the ball away and then finished a left-handed layup. Lexie showed her outside range, dribbling coast to coast before hitting a wing 3, and hitting another wing 3 off the catch. Lexie attacks downhill and used a quick low sweep move to drive by her defender and score at the rim.
Angela Cichowski
Angela Cichowski
Angela Cichowski energized her 1829 Scorpions team with impressive plays on both sides of the ball at the Cagers Invitational. She used her length to block multiple shots in the paint and gain the advantage for rebounds. Angela finished layups in transition and muscled her way on drives through the defense to score and draw fouls. She demonstrated her perimeter shooting abilities by drilling a 3 from up top.
Shi’aire Little
Shi’aire Little
Shi’aire Little was a lengthy guard who stood out for FVV Hype at the Cagers Invitational. She used her length to close passing lanes and cause multiple steals. Shi’aire drilled a long corner jumper with a smooth catch and release. She drove hard to the basket to force a foul and buried both free throws.
Erica Sheridan
Erica Sheridan
Erica Sheridan was one of the toughest players on the court for Michigan Lady Playmakers at the Cagers Invitational. She showed no fear as she drove full speed into the paint to absorb contact and draw fouls. Erica turned on the burners to finish at the rim multiple times and worked hard to apply ball pressure on defense. She hit the floor for loose balls and drove hard to finish through contact off the glass. The effort Erica gave to contort her body when finishing challenging angles around the basket and play through pain was truly impressive.
