The HHub in Centralia will host the Tiger Town Shootout boys and girls tournaments June 1-2. The girls bracket is stocked full of good teams and great players. If each team were to bring all it's varsity, we'd have a great one. Regardless if they happen to have other commitments, players are being covered. This is the first in a series of articles on players whose team will be in Centralia.

Maggie plays well beyond her years. She has a whole bag of tricks to go along with the skills. She has a knack for getting to the basket and setting up the defense. She shoots the pull-up jumper from anywhere. She gets herself to the free throw line. Drawing fouls is a skill and she has it. She shared point guard duties in her freshman season last year but should have the ball in her hands as much as possible next season. She is a crafty player that you know has spent countless hours in the gym. Her shooting range is also legit. She'll bury them if she gets daylight. Another skill she has. She helped White River to a 4th place finish at the state tournament.

I have been impressed with her game since I saw her last summer at the freshman showcase. She is an athletic and skilled guard that is best suited playing the point. The most impressive thing about her game is how she attacks the basket. She is terrific at changing speeds and breaking down the defense. She excels at going left and getting all the way to the basket. She has excellent floor vision and makes a lot of difficult passes look easy. There are a lot of dump offs to a wide open [player_tooltip player_id='584642' first='Julie' last='Dalan'] from Boeck breaking it down. She is also a crafty one whose athleticism and skill-set go hand in hand making her a top 10 player in the class of 2027 in my opinion. . She averaged 11 points per game helping the Bearcats to a 6th place finish at the 2A state tournament. If all-state center Julia Dalan wasn't in the mix, Boeck could have pushed for 20 a game. Not to forget, she is an excellent defensive player with great anticipation and quickness.

Tyler averaged 14 points per game last season as a freshman. She plays the point for Black Hills and does most all the ball handling. She has excellent handles and can get herself into the paint with quick feet, cross overs and blow byes. She rarely seems rattled and always plays under control. She has a high IQ point guard style of play that stands out. I would bet she really excels in AAU ball, games that she wouldn't have to do everything. She has that ability to pick apart the defense even with all the defensive attention she gets. Quickness, great ball-skills are her biggest strengths.

Joy is the two guard as Boeck is the point. One of Cushmans best weapons is that she can shoot it with the best of them if she gets any kind of space. She too has game that is advanced for her age. I also saw a willingness to get easy buckets in transition, and some floaters in the lane. She finished well on the break with either hand. She can get hot in a hurry. W.F. West has to be a pre-season favorite to go deep in the playoffs next season

Karsyn was a standout for Kelso last season. She is an athletic guard who plays with a high energy style. She is a defensively skilled player which shows up when he she gets steals leading to buckets on the other end. She anticipates well and looks for her spots. Once she gets the ball it's off to the races with the speed she has. She has a nice looking jumper from three and will shoot it off the dribble and relocate for her shots. A three sport athlete who was just named to the 1st team all league softball team.
