A staple of the Northwood University Team Camp over the years has been their OT tournament. The games are a 3-minute single-elimination matchup, so it’s a great opportunity to observe what each team’s best basketball looks like. Midland played the role of spoiler, knocking off two D2 quarterfinal teams from the 2024 high school playoffs on their way to taking home the OT Tourney Championship T-shirts. Below are a few players from the OT tournament who had a great Saturday at Northwood Team Camp.

Ellee Arnold Ellee Arnold 6'1" | C Midland | 2028 MI was the MVP of the OT tournament for Midland and had an outstanding Saturday for the Chemics. Ellee won the battle in the paint by scoring multiple and one buckets through fouls, finishing contested shots off two, working for offensive rebounds, and knocking down crucial free throws. In the final minute of the championship game, she scored an offensive rebound put back with her left and right off two, then knocked down both her free throws to seal the win. Ellee was clutch and played with the poise few have as an incoming freshman.
Kendyl lifted her team to victory in key moments on Saturday in the OT tournament, leading them to the final game. She knocked down many free throws, worked for offensive boards, and demonstrated determination to win. Trailing late in the OT tournament, Kendyl buried a clutch 3 up top, beat her defender using a great spin dribble, and finished a tough layup off the glass. She knocked down a wing 3 and scored on a strong drive and one in the final game. Kendyl scorched her opponent earlier in the day hitting four triples in a game and showed great leadership all day at Northwood Team Camp on Saturday. Her politeness and humility during conversation has always

Brooke Moyer was an impressive guard this spring with Michigan Vice and she made key plays for South Lyon East during the OT Tournament at Northwood Team Camp. Brooke handled the ball well, scanned the floor, and effectively passed the ball to teammates. She drilled two free throws with textbook form and used her quick hands to cause multiple steals.
Nyla had a great day for South Lyon East on Saturday at Northwood Team Camp. She had her sites lined up from beyond the arc hitting 3s from the wing, corner 3, and up top. Nyla stole the ball away and attacked downhill to get to the line. During the OT Tourney, she worked to secure an offensive rebound and score a tough and one off two. Nyla skips the ball across the court with strong, accurate passes to teammates.

Gabby was an effective guard for Dakota at Northwood Team Camp on Saturday. Gabby hit a floater, drilled a pull-up jumper up top off a crossover dribble, attacked downhill, and demonstrated great sportsmanship by helping an opponent off the floor. She scored multiple layups during the OT Tourney, caused steals, and threw a dime assist on a rope to a teammate through defenders.

MaKayla competed with great effort and a high motor for Dakota at Northwood Team Camp on Saturday. Her defense and toughness caught my attention, as she cut off a guard with her quick lateral slides and walled up to block a shot. MaKayla pressured a ball handler without fouling and created an over-and-back violation. She powered through a foul for an and-one inside and stole the ball away. During the OT Tourney, MaKayla drove hard to the rim to draw a foul, hit a free throw, and tied up the ball on defense.

Kayla has had an excellent spring and played fantastic basketball for Goodrich at Northwood Team Camp on Saturday. She demonstrated her ability to beat quick defenders off the dribble to score or deliver accurate passes through tough angles. Kayla was on the mark from three all day and knocked down multiple triples from the corners during the OT tournament. She attacked off the dribble to score a layup and outraced defenders for an offensive rebound. Kayla had an outstanding team camp and earned an offer from Northwood as she has consistently competed at a high level.

Mary Gumbis impressed me last winter with Seaholm at a high school game and she doubled down on that performance at Northwood Team Camp on Saturday. Mary is a versatile PF, she knocked down a deep corner jumper and drew a foul on her coast-to-coast drive in transition. Mary paused off the catch, then burst by her defender to score off two at the rim. She scored a left put back off two and used a shot fake crossover combo move to score a left layup. Mary looked to score off defensive rebounds and pushed the ball in transition with both hands to draw a foul, then knocked down her free throws during the OT tournament.
Addison is well known because of her efficiency as a shooter, but she contributed in other ways for Seaholm at Northwood Team Camp. Addison hustled to save a loose ball going out of bounds, deflected a pass for a steal, and stole another pass to score an and-one left layup using a euro step finish. She drove hard to the rim to draw a foul, then hit her free throw and hit the floor for a 50/50 ball. During the OT tourney, Addison continued her efficiency from the line by knocking down two for free throws.
