As we gear up for the upcoming season, many players have graduated and moved on to the next level. This is just a natural progression for young players. Young players become veterans and their roles increase from year to year. The players listed below have produced on the court and have created expectations with their play (last season or over the summer during the travel season). Some of these prospects have always had the ability to produce but just had to wait their turns. In this article, we look at a few players who are expected to have a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='788707' first='Samantha' last='Lecas'] is a shooter and every time I see her on the court she is pulling up from behind the three-point line. Lecas is fast and she can shoot the ball. Last year at a college showcase, the young gunner dropped about 10 threes in two games. Lecas can also handle the ball and has very good speed. She does a good job of pushing the tempo. Her speed and shooting ability will create a lot of opportunities for herself and her teammates. Lecas is poised to show leadership and put up some elite numbers from behind the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id='514601' first='Talia' last='Busser'] was impressive throughout the summer and one thing Busser can do is shoot the rock. She was a standout at last year's ENG showcase as an incoming freshman and shot it well during the travel period. Busser can shoot off the catch and shoot at a high rate. She does a great job of getting to her spot and letting it fly. Busser also handles the ball well and passes it well.

[player_tooltip player_id='633535' first='Alex' last='Gross'] is primed for a breakout season. Gross is an athletic, speedy, and versatile player. She can score the ball from all areas of the court - the three, the drive, the pull-up. Last season she had 7 to 8 threes in one game. Over the summer I watched her dish 10 to 12 assists without a single point. Gross is a playmaker who can impact a game in multiple ways. It's all predicated on her speed and quickness. Gross is primed for a breakout year and points may not be the barometer. Assists, steals, and shut-down defense will be what Gross's success is based on.

[player_tooltip player_id='811411' first='Ronneisha' last='Thomas'] is poised for a breakout season. Every time I see her on the court, her athleticism stands out. Thomas plays well in big moments. She was impressive in the State playoffs on defense and handling the ball in pressure situations. She plays lockdown defense, handles the ball well on offense, and makes a good decision on the court. Thomas can also get to the rim and score. With the exit of several key slashers, Thomas will take on that role with her athleticism and skillset.

[player_tooltip player_id='633532' first='Leila' last='Goll'] (cover) is primed for a breakout season. She sat behind a few senior players the last few seasons and they are now playing at the next level. It's now Goll's turn. She played well in summer travel ball and was money from behind the three-point line. She also showed grit and leadership. This season will be a breakout season for the sharpshooter.

[player_tooltip player_id='633529' first='Mia' last='Chandler'] is another 2026 prospect who is primed for a breakout year. She was a workhorse her first 2 years but didn't have to carry the leadership role. This upcoming season, Chandler will be the leader of her Mandarin team. She can score with an array of shots in the paint and she has also vastly improved her midrange jumper. Not only is she poised to have a breakout year, but she will be a candidate for the top double-double machine in the 2026 class. With great ability comes great expectations. It's Chandler's time.

[player_tooltip player_id='972252' first='Nevia' last='Edouard'] is poised for a breakout season. The junior has a mixture of power and agility and is a selfless player who will do whatever it takes to win. Loose balls and offensive rebounds find their way into Edouard's possession. Offensively, she does a good job of finding open teammates cutting to the rim, and kicking the pass back out to her shooters. Edouard's defense is good and versatile. She can cover the perimeter and definitely defend the paint. She aggressively attacks the ball and gets steals and a few blocked shots as a result. This upcoming year could be a big one for the up-and-coming forward. She is poised to have a breakout season.
