Entering their first years as upperclassmen and potential leaders, these juniors will be looking to take on more of a role for their team as well as responsibilities off the court. With a couple of seasons under their belt, they should know what to expect for this upcoming season. Below are some juniors that I believe are in for a big year this season.

Frempong is a natural athlete. From her speed, her strength, and her ability to stay engaged even when “tired” is something to take note of. Yes, she can score and she defends at a high level.. but the other little details to her game are what continue to stand out to me. She does a great job of court mapping, and keeping things moving at a solid pace. The potential to be a legit two way playmaker is there.

Got a chance to watch Dejesus a couple of times this summer, and what stood out to me was her confidence when she's used on the block. Dalia may not be the strongest player on the court, but she has a sense of aggression in her that may go unnoticed—the soft touch around the rim helps too. She's lengthy and has a good sense of awareness, and that's definitely shown on the defensive side of the ball. Looking forward to seeing her take another big leap in her game this winter.

Post players are always my favorite to scout. It's easy to tell if they've been working on their game because, depending on the offensive scheme, they're limited in what they can or are allowed to do. Tice seemed to have a ton of freedom this past summer, which could be attributed to the hours she's putting in. She's confident and reliable from outside the arc, and in the paint, she's a force to be dealt with. In a class where most of the high-level talent is in guard form, Alexandra has made a case for being one of the best post players.

In every showcase, Alison is one of the names that's mentioned. Her athleticism and relentless type of game allow her to be effective from all areas on the court and on both sides of the ball. She's not the flashiest guard you'll come across, but she gets it done by being simple and intentional. Versatile, athletic, and high motor. The Lancers will be running a ton of things through her.

Loyola will be without two key pieces this year, but after a strong summer for Weasler, I can see her taking that next step and being a huge factor for the Ramblers. Clare is aggressive, fearless, and just has a knack for being where the ball is. Though she's on the smaller side, the kid plays twice that when it matters.

Ava's ability to stretch the floor at a high clip could be a huge piece of what Benet needs to stay competitive when their starters get tired. If she's not used as a spot-up shooter, Thomas has the ball handling, vision, and defensive ability to be a lead guard for the second unit. Benet will be a program to watch this year.

Entering their first years as upperclassmen and potential leaders, these juniors will be looking to take on more of a role for their team as well as responsibilities off the court.
