Florida Expo 2024: Guard Preview

In this article, we look at some of the guards who will be the building for the 2024 Expo. These guards all have special skill sets. Some are playmakers, others are shooters, and a few are defensive specialists.    [player_tooltip player_id='514572' first='Laila' last='Allen'] is expected to be in the building at the Expo.  Allen is that consummate point guard who has speed on the court.  Allen can get to the rim and she makes it hard on defenders trying to stack in front of her.  Allen has great court vision and in addition to scoring she is a play making point guard.  Expect the ball to be moving and dimes to be dished with Allen on the floor.      [player_tooltip player_id='763181' first='Maia' last='Berdebes'] will be in the building and will most likely be on the attack from the time she walks through the door. Berdebes was a standout at several showcases last year, and her forte was attacking the basket. She has a lot of tools in her bag. The "attack" is just one of them. Berdebes has good handles and can navigate through pressure, get past defenders, and put the defense at a disadvantage. She can also shoot the three. Last year, she connected on 39 for the season. Defensively, she averaged 3.5 steals per game. No surprise, as Berdebes is full of energy on the court and constantly on the move    .     [player_tooltip player_id='880384' first='Jada' last='Clardy'] will travel from West Florida to participate in the PGH Expo. Clardy was a standout at the FABC Showcase over the summer. Clardy was crafty, shifty, and electrifying at the event. She was at her best in transition and showed a propensity to get to the rim consistently. Once she was there, she knew what to do with the ball. Clardy has a nose for scoring and knows how to play off of her teammates. Claridy will be one to watch at the PGH Expo.     [player_tooltip player_id='655704' first='Victoria' last='Noble'] will be one of the top three-point shooters at the Expo. If she plays on the team with a playmaking guard, be prepared for a shooting exposition. Noble also runs the floor well and can shoot the three-ball while in transition or in a set offense.         [player_tooltip player_id='249386' first='Jatia' last='Markes'] will be at the Expo and that means defensive intensity will be in the building.  Markes was a key player in the State Championship run at Bloomingdale.  She made major contributions on defense with some key steals and transition baskets.  A lot of Markes game is predicated on speed and quickness.  On your “Markes” get set, go.  She will be a player to watch at this year's Expo.      [player_tooltip player_id='743362' first='Lavin' last='Savage'] has been on the roster for months and is ready to participate in the 2024 Expo. Savage is another guard who can put it down in defense and she is one of the lone players who plays defense all 94 feet. Savage excels on the defensive end and she also plays well in transition. A lot of her strengths are predicated on her speed on the floor. Savage is a solid playmaker on the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='897274' first='Bryonna' last='Grimes'] will also be present at the Expo and is another player who can shoot the rock. Grimes can score with the ball in her hand and shoot the three off the catch. Her shot is smooth and very advanced for a Sophomore. She will be a player to watch and Prep Girl Hoops may need to bring some extra nets with Grimes in the    The Florida Expo will be full of guard talent.
