Here it is folks, the moment you have all been waiting for! We know it is very early to rank the freshman class but from what we saw at the freshman showcase, along with extensive research, our own expertise, and insight from reliable sources throughout the state. We have compiled 124 players in our first ever 2028 rankings list. Keep in mind, that this is only a starting point for rankings and the list will grow and change with each coming update.

Breathitt County star [player_tooltip player_id='796168' first='Lexie' last='Combs'] takes the 6th spot. Lexie has a pure shooting touch from the mid-range and from three. She is a really good ball handler and facilitator that knows how to find open teammates for quality shots. Lexie averaged 14.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and had shooting splits of 38/35/66 for the Lady Cats last season. I see her numbers increasing this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='934138' first='Karlea' last='Stanley'] claims the #7 spot on our rankings list. She is the younger sister of former 15th region standout Kylea Stanley that played for Belfry and Pike Central. From what I've been hearing she is the next big thing to come out of the 15th region. Karlea is a floor general, playmaker, stellar defender, and a brilliant-passer who can really thread the needle. Johnson Central went 29-3 in their 2nd season under Head Coach Jim Bob Hicks. I believe Karlea will be relied on a lot more this season with hopes of a Sweet 16 State Tournament birth looming.

[player_tooltip player_id='722791' first='Maci' last='Maynard'] comes in at #8. The 6'4 standout at Martin County is everything you expect her to be and more. She has an incredbily soft touch around the basket and knows how to finish with both power and finesse. Maci does work on the glass on both ends and her presence in the paint alone makes it hard to get anything at the rim on defense. She holds an offer from Alice Lloyd College and like Steve said, Maci has a long term upside that will only get higher as her career goes along.

At #9 we have GRC's [player_tooltip player_id='963013' first='Kyleigh' last='Chestnut']. She plays the game the right way and has the awareness and basketball IQ to know when to make it happen herself or kick it to an open teammate. She is an effective scorer at all three levels, and is the type of player that is going to give 100% on both ends of the floor. Kyleigh looked good over the summer and should see a significant amount of minutes in her freshman season for the Lady Cardinals.

[player_tooltip player_id='973205' first='Maddi' last='Frohnapfel'] completes the top ten of our initial 2028 rankings list in Kentucky. She impacts the game in a variety of ways and her basketball IQ is off the charts. Maddi averaged 12 points per contest for Hazard last season and had several games where she put up eye-opening numbers. I see her being higher on the list when it is all said and done.
