The Prep Girls Hoops Freshman Showcase is an equal opportunity event. There are no invitations. No faux-exclusivity. No pretentiousness. This is a wide-open opportunity for anyone in the 9th grade to show what they can do and test themselves in the process. That doesn't mean the superstars don't show up. They do and they did on Sunday at Hopkins High School, but none shone more brightly than the presumed #1 prospect in Minnesota's Class of 2028. That would be [player_tooltip player_id='433933' first='Chloe' last='Johnson'] of Duluth Marshall.

Chloe is one of America's premier freshmen, a generational talent who can do things on the basketball court that most players can't even conceive of. Don't believe us? Ask anyone who was in the gym on Sunday and at least half awake because Miss Johnson was balling out. From the under-the-leg pass to the open player at the back door; to the seemingly impossible long bombs that set up open teammates for three; to the thread-the-needle-oh-so-sweetly bounce passes to a streaking player... It was beautiful. All of it.

Our plan over the next few days is to offer detailed analysis of Sunday's best performers and top prospects on a team-by-team basis. We didn't want to make you wait too long, however, so we figured a quick 10-pack of top performers might quench the thirst a little. Chloe is in a category of her own, though, and it was magnificent to watch. Here are the rest of the top performers.

1. [player_tooltip player_id='716527' first='Ashna' last='Ramlall'] – The crafty point guard from Rosemount can do it all. No matter the scenario. Regardless of the level. Whatever players are on the floor. The 5'10 freshman's ball-handling skills and shooting ability are truly elite. One of the strongest prospects in the class, Ashna seldom fails to deliver.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='911664' first='Brianna' last='Eggers'] – The 6'1 forward from Buffalo is coming off a terrific summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='767539' first='Minnesota' last='Comets'] and she didn't miss a beat Sunday while returning to the court against high-level competition. Points. Rebounds. Assists. Energy. It was all there and more.

3. [player_tooltip player_id='897060' first='Madeleine' last='Hamiel'] – The newcomer to Minnesota has barely unpacked her suitcases and is already making her presence known. Madeleine is actually a 2029 but we invited her to participate as a way of saying ‘Welcome to the party!' The gifted 5'9 guard will play at Cretin-Derham Hall.

4. [player_tooltip player_id='644896' first='Logan' last='Miller'] – The 6'3 forward from Andover is hard to miss and hard to handle at both ends of the floor. The [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] post player is one of the top two or three bigs in the Class of 2028 and she's only going to get better. Logan's ceiling is high, high, high.

5. [player_tooltip player_id='565312' first='Ari' last='Peterson'] – The 6'1 forward, formerly of Providence Academy and now wearing the colors of Minnetonka, is a star in the making no matter what uniform she's in. With length, pace, athleticism and bounce, Ari is a handful. Peterson's top-end potential sits at the highest levels of the game.

6. [player_tooltip player_id='918684' first='Quinn' last='Kemper'] – Length? Check. Speed? Check. Shooting ability? Check. Motor. Check check check check check. Yep, the 5'10 guard/wing from Edina just keeps going and going and going. Quinn's game is on a steep upward trajectory right now. Coaches need to get Kemper on their lists.

7. [player_tooltip player_id='897050' first='Annabelle' last='Gothmann'] – The 5'8 guard from Milaca isn't flashy nor does she care to be. Annabelle thinks and acts like a lunch pail competitor but do not be fooled because she has the skills and smarts and drive to blow right by you. We've watched her reliably deliver for months now. Sunday was no exception.

8. [player_tooltip player_id='565313' first='Elsa' last='Retzlaff'] – What we just said about Gothmann would apply equally well to Elsa, a 5'9 guard from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls. She made folks sit up and take notice all summer with [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'] and nothing seems to faze her. She strong, skilled and savvy, and we're here for all of it.

9. [player_tooltip player_id='990284' first='Dreah' last='Christiansen'] – The 5'8 guard from Menahga was the breakout performer of the day at the Freshman Showcase. She caught fire immediately in the 3x3 games turning defense into offense and making one big play after another. Dreah's overall skills have improved while her motor continues to rev. Stay tuned.

10. [player_tooltip player_id='990285' first='Kiyanah' last='McGriff'] – It's difficult to measure the impact of grit, but you know it when you see it and the 5'10 forward from Roseville has definitely got some sandpaper to her. McGriff has a big frame and plenty of strength and is deceptively explosive. She can also knock down shots. We've watched Kiyanah a half dozen times now. Let's just say she has our attention.
