PGH Iowa Expo Preview: Six Players To Know Going Into It

This weekend is our Showcase event of the Fall, "The Expo", will be taking place at [program_tooltip program_id='712595' first='Kingdom' last='Hoops'] Facility in Des Moines. Currently, we have 45 participates signed up to attend and they are ready to show what they can do. In this article, we highlight six prospects that will be leaving it all out on the floor at this event. Each individual below has shown some promise up until this point in their careers and they are ready to keep that rolling.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    [player_tooltip player_id='957815' first='Lydia' last='Hansen'] of Colfax-Mingo High School is going to step on the Varsity floor as a Freshman this Winter and she will put up some positive numbers while doing so. Hansen stands at 6'1, she moves well for her size and her understanding of situations is pretty solid. At this Showcase, there could very well be 5-7 future D1 prospects competing so I'm excited to see how Hansen fairs. She is no stranger to tough competition but I do need to see that she can handle being on the floor at the same time with those top end players. If she can do that, it will only help her more in the long run, showing that she can adapt and compete, no matter who is on the floor around her.     I'm very excited to be in the same gym as Claire Stofhoff on Saturday, so that I can see how she has evolved her play-style since the last time I watched her compete. Storhoff is a smooth operator with the ball in her hands and she competes with that "X- Factor", on both sides of the basketball. It doesn't matter of the situation, it doesn't matter where or when, if there is a chance to make a solid play, Storhoff is sure to make it happen. With her natural size at 5'9 and her seasoned ability, she put up solid numbers last Winter with her Decorah High School team and I'm sure that will be much of the same, but only better, over these next six months.     This Winter I will be in attendance to see [player_tooltip player_id='863283' first='Harlow' last='Griffin'] and her Marion High School team compete out of the Cedar Rapids area. The Marion Wolves will have a Varsity roster with a handful of future college prospects on it and they will be looking to make some waves this Winter. In Griffin's situation, she is going to step onto the floor as one of their top Forwards and she will be looking to build on the foundation that she set in place during her Freshman season. Griffin is coming off of a respectable AAU Campaign with her [program_tooltip program_id='712577' first='Iowa' last='Prep'] program and she is going to use that momentum to play her hardest at this Showcase and for her upcoming high school season.     Jada James is coming over from Nebraska to show-out during this event and I can't wait to see the show she is going to put on. James should put up some noteworthy numbers at this event, as well as the Nebraska Showcase that she is also attending on Sunday evening in Omaha. The best way to describe James' play-style is steady, crafty, and efficient. When I first had the opportunity to see James compete, she fell in love with the three point line too much for my liking but over the past eight months, that's really changed. Instead, now James takes what the defense gives her and that leads to a whole lot of buckets on the offensively end. James is going to matchup with a few other really special prospects over the next few days and I can't wait to see her show out for everyone watching!     There is only going to be a handful of upperclassmen prospects attending this event and one of those prospects is 5'10 CG - [player_tooltip player_id='1044949' first='Lilliana' last='Gunderson']. Gunderson is somewhat underrated throughout the state of Iowa because of where she competes and those sort of circumstances but from watching Gunderson on film, she could definitely find her way onto a collegiate roster before her high school career comes to an end. For her size, she has great coordination, touch, footwork, wherewithal, balance, and skill. She doesn't do anything crazy but more-so keeps it to one simple move and a bucket on the offensive end against opponents. Defensively, she can switch onto different positions on the court in a heartbeat and she is solid at staying in front of most. All in all, Gunderson could put together an impressive weekend and out-play a lot of the others competing. She just has to stay locked in and play to her strengths.     Waukee NW High School is going to be a program that everyone sleeps on going into this Winter but they shouldn't. If other programs understood what their personal looked like and their talent level, they would understand that this Wolves team could be a State Competitor for years to come. Someone from their group that is going to have a vital role in all of that will be PG, [player_tooltip player_id='667440' first='Dylan' last='Peterson']. Peterson can help lead a team if need be at the PG position, getting others open and hitting them for an easy assist or she can move to an off-guard position and hold her own at steady rate. If you have been paying attention in Iowa over the past few years, you know what Peterson can do and I'm excited for her to show off that ability over the next few days at this event.
