In this piece we highlight five prospects out of the states of Iowa and Nebraska, that are all ranked #1 for their perspective age group moving into the 2024-2025 high school season. Each of these athletes is a future Division-1 basketball player and they can't wait to show off their worth over the next six months. If you have been following along with either state over the past couple of years, you understand what each of these athletes can do already and it is no joke!

[player_tooltip player_id='315778' first='Neleigh' last='Gessert'] is going to be a staple once she gets to the Creighton Bluejays program but first, she has a Senior season to put together. Gessert is a nationally ranked prospect by ESPNW for a few months now and for good reason. She is a guard that can shoot it with the best in the Country, she can handle and create, she can defend, and she has a smart head on her shoulders. Those things paired along with her height, natural athletic ability, and experience on a national level makes me believe we are potentially speaking about someone that could take the Country by storm once she is on the Bluejays roster officially. Prior to all of that, Gessert and Millard West will attempt to be back-to-back State Champs. A challenge that is extremely tough, but do-able in this circumstance.

I'm not sure that there has ever been an LSU prospect from the state of Iowa yet but we have one right now and she is going to put together a year to remember if she has any say about it for her Senior campaign at Davenport North. Divine Bourrage is one of the highest rated recruits that the state has Iowa has ever seen. At one point in her career, she was ranked as high as #4 in the Country by ESPNW, while she still sits within the Top 15 of her 2025 Class today. To give any outsiders an example: Dawn Staley of South Carolina flew into the State tournament last year to watch her compete, giving her an official offer following the tournament. I guess all I can say is, I can't wait to see Bourrage on the LSU floor. I'm not sure how far she can take this but we are going to see. She is going to go out and murder it this Winter but what's to follow could be even more impressive.

Most high-end collegiate programs are patiently waiting for Jenica Lewis to narrow down her options or even commit over this next year. Lewis has been a hot commodity over the past 3-4 years because of her talent level and natural play-making ability. Lewis moves into her Junior season with the Johnson Dragons as a Top 25 prospect out of her 2026 Class nationally but this comes as no surprise. When Lewis was a middle schooler she was even getting attention and offers from Power-5 programs. The biggest reason for all this is because the game of Basketball just comes naturally to Lewis. She has had it click in her head from a young age and that along with her hard-work, has gotten her over 40+ P5 offers thus far. This Winter with the Dragons will be her biggest test to date but I don't think she is too worried about that.

The ETG Midwest [program_tooltip program_id='713325' first='Elite' last=''] 3SSB program out of Omaha is one of the nations top Adidas programs at almost every grade level. One of their underclassman prospects, that has already caught the attention of some D1 coaches is 6'2 PF, [player_tooltip player_id='747245' first='Addison' last='Medeck']. Following her AAU season, Medeck received some offers from these collegiate programs as they attempt to get their names in early with her so when she commits later on, they will be in the conversation. Medeck is a Forward with physical prowess in the lane, a dominating attitude, soft hands, coordinated footwork, and a whole lot of future potential. In reality, I'm expecting a lot out of her this Winter. To keep this top spot, she will have to continue to prove that she deserves it, night in and night out.

Bishop Heelan High School should be in for a really impressive season but it's not going to be as easy as that. They will take on new transfers, lose some older prospects due to graduation, and attempt to make everything gel as if none of that ever happened. A player that will definitly help that cause is their SG/CG/SF - Melina Snoozy. Snoozy is a player that has a sniper from deep at any distance, she isn't afraid to take her defender off of the dribble, and she has solid size. She is someone that can be played at the 2, 3, or even 4 spot at this moment in time but she really thrives at the 2 or the 3 from what I've witnessed. Within this specific system, she will be moved all over, being looked at by her teammates as their undeniable leader moving forward. A task I know she is ready for.
