Keyanna was a senior guard who stepped into the spotlight Sunday at the LBI Mitten Opening. She created separation with her crossovers and then shifted into high-gear to pass defenders for layups. Keyanna worked hard defensively to pressure opposing ball-handlers, found open teammates with her passes, and buried multiple 3-pointers with smooth shooting mechanics. Keyanna was very impressive and I'm excited to see her contribute to a Ferndale team that will contend for the OAA Red title this winter.

HEA was a team I was very excited to see at the LBI Mitten Opening Scrimmage on Sunday and Emma was a hidden gem prospect who emerged for the Firebirds. She impacted the game in a variety of ways offensively, dishing an accurate left-handed entry pass into the post and burying multiple 3s on the perimeter. Emma used pocket dribbles and crossovers to create space from defenders, drilled a smooth pull-up jumper from the elbow, and dropped in a soft floater off the dribble. Emma stepped up for her team and will be an important contributor for the defending national champs.

Brooklyn played with a determined effort and toughness that made her impossible to miss at the LBI Mitten Opening on Sunday. She left the game briefly after a hard collision and came back stronger than ever. Brooklyn pressured the heck out of the ball, moving quickly laterally to put ball-handlers in a box. She stole the ball and pushed it quickly to create transition offense, finished a spin dribble layup off the window, and drilled a mid-range jumper off the dribble. Brooklyn is a leader for Carlson and a senior who will be exciting to watch this winter.

Kendall displayed toughness, confidence, and abilities that made her an impressive senior to watch at the LBI Mitten Opening on Sunday. She used low sweeps, inside-out dribbles, and crossovers to split defenders multiple times, then earned free throws by driving hard through contact. Kendall converted shots from the charity stripe, knocked down a smooth elbow jumper, buried clutch 3s late in the game, and aggressively doubled the low post to cause a held ball. Kendall is going to be a major contributor to a scrappy Dexter team and I'm excited to see her compete again this winter.

Kate faced fierce defensive pressure, athleticism, and physicality on Sunday at the LBI Mitten Opening; her strong-willed performance helped lead Grass Lake to an impressive victory. Kate showed her toughness by remaining in the game after suffering a shoulder stinger on a floater she scored through a foul. Kate was locked in from beyond the arc, hitting multiple timely 3s throughout the game. She split defenders using shifty crossover dribbles and converted layups full-speed at the rim. Her poise and quickness dribbling against extremely difficult pressure showed why the Scots secured an outstanding 2025 point guard in their recruiting. Kate is the arrowhead for a Grass Lake team that heads into the winter as the best D3 squad in the state.
