AVCTL/GWAL Challenge Day 3 Standouts, Part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Day 3 of the 2025 AVCTL/GWAL Basketball Challenge ran as scheduled on Saturday with six boys and girls games running back-to-back at Park City Arena. Eisenhower vs Wichita East opened the day, Derby vs Wichita Southeast closed it and the most exciting game of the day, Andover Central vs Kapaun Mt. Carmel, was sandwiched in between. Enjoy my look at standouts from the six teams spread out over three articles. She was really good scoring off the catch while on the move. She also made good decisions when given perimeter shot opportunities. Galbert's hops and build made her competitive on the glass. And while she has quick hands and is a capable defender her light build caused her trouble staying with physically bigger guards running through screens and flashing through traffic in the paint. A formidable presence with her size. What really caught my eye was her quick feet and face-up ball skills within 10' of the basket. She generated several scoring looks getting to the hole. I really liked how she jumped to the ball and got up going after rebounds. She consistently found the right play to be made in transition and in the half court on the way to collecting several assists. She brings good size to the forward spot and defends solidly on the wing and inside. Friend read passing lanes well to generate picks and deflections. She really shined on the shot block, collecting at least 5 by my count. A player who plays bigger than her her height, she competed well for rebounds, made quality passes and used her size effectively to generate shots. She also knocked down a pair of three pointers. She led her team in scoring with 12.
