When we covered some of the state's conferences during the preseason, we briefly talked about how CG/SF - [player_tooltip player_id='1055354' first='Lauren' last='Johnson'] was going to be one of Stanton's Senior leaders for this Winter. Well Johnson is thriving and putting up meaningful numbers every contest, consistently showing her worth to anyone that might be paying attention. In the most recent game again Griswold, Johnson had 19 Points (10/18), 10 Rebounds, and 5 Steals - giving her a pretty impressive stat-line with a clean double-double. Stanton has a few Senior leaders that are vital to their success and Johnson is 100% in that conversation as you can tell.

Gilbert took the floor on Tuesday evening against a seasoned ADM program and came out victorious by a final of 54-47. In the win, the leading scorer and a top rebounding force, that ADM couldn't really stop was Forward - [player_tooltip player_id='311355' first='Ella' last='Henningsen']. Henningsen went to work throughout this ball game, registering 22 points on 7/17 shooting, including going 4/6 from behind the three point line. She also grabbed 8 rebounds and altered numerous shot attempts near the paint on the defensive side of the floor. It wasn't the prettiest victory but it sure was a satisfying one if you were rooting for Gilbert.

[player_tooltip player_id='832216' first='Kylee' last='Pexa'] of Dunkerton High School is a skilled guard, with quick movement on and off of the basketball. Pexa is the type that can produce in multiple ways. She can score by screening and rolling into space, she can step out with some time and knock down a jumper, or she can sneak behind the defense for a bucket near the painted area. Dunkerton went on the road last night and came away with a resounding victory. When the final buzzer sounded, Pexa had recorded a game-high 18 points in her efforts. Hopefully moving forward she can continue to use this momentum moving into the Playoffs.

Cedar Rapids Xavier got a 22 point victory on Tuesday evening over Cedar Rapids Kennedy at home. Throughout this game, several individuals stepped up for the Saints to help them finish things off. Someone from their underclassman group, that we have highlighted a few times this Winter up until this point is SF - [player_tooltip player_id='920273' first='Samantha' last='Dorrity']. Dorrity has length, a quick first step, a start head on her shoulders, and a willingness to mix it up with everyone and anyone physically near the hoop. In this specific battle, Dorrity recorded 14 Points on 6/7 shooting. Showing off her efficient play style from all over the court. This isn't the first time or the last time we will hear about Dorrity. If she continues to grow her game in the off-season, she could come back as a Sophmore and be their top dawg before you know it.

Assumption High School handled their business on Tuesday, beating North Scott by 18 points when the last buzzer sounded. Throughout this game there was a lot of back and fourth action from both parties. Assumption eventually ended up pulling away and a big part of that was because of the play of 5'11 SF - [player_tooltip player_id='1132297' first='Anna' last='Timmons']. Timmons led all scores with 17 on 50% shooting. This was an overall great game by Assumption and Timmons. This isn't anything knew thought. They have a had a few contest this Winter in which they took care of what they needed to, resulting in a win. I'm not sure where this group takes things from here but if they stay engaged, they could end up stringing together some more W's.

One of the best stat lines that we have seen so far this season out of any one player, happened yesterday when [player_tooltip player_id='764451' first='Macey' last='O'Brien'] decided to have the best game of her young career. Her stat line looked something like 41 Points, 14 Rebounds, and 16 Steals. That's right. A 40+ point triple-double, while your team wins. What's better than that? This is a noteworthy performance but it isn't a crazy one if you understand O'Brien's ability and the matchups she has to deal with. She should have some really nice games over the next 2.5 years at the Varsity level. She just needs to stay locked in like she was last night.
