Teams are now locked in for the Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament, the venue and dates are also set. It looks to be a solid three days of basketball with some of the top ranked private schools in the state. The quarter final on March 4th will be held at Elizabeth Seton as the host will play Mt. Zion Prep at 4:00pm in the opening game. At 5:40pm top seed Bishop McNamara will play St. Mary's Ryken and at 7:20pm St. Frances locks up against Rosedale Christian. In the final game of the day Bullis will play against Riverdale Baptist at 9:00pm. The winners will move on to the semi finals on March 6th with the championship game being played on March 8th. Here are some of the players to keep an eye on during the tournament.

Ivanna is one of the top players in the nation and is a joy to watch. She has a high energy motor and refuses to give up on plays often running players down from behind. She has the range to shoot from the three and finishes from a variety of angles.

Qandace is continuing to evolve and can either be a premier shooter, a lock down defender or a rebound specialist depending on the need in that game. She has good height and length and moves a lot faster than she appears to be running because of her long strides.

This will be the last time we will get to see one of the top shooters that we have seen in a while locally grace the floor. Hopefully she gets to let it rip and the Roadrunners will need her skills in order to advance far.

Jaela is one of the top players most of the area hasn't seen. She is athletic and can play both the forward and wing. She has a nice form on her shot and is consistent from the mid-range area. She plays solid defense and should get some highlight moments as they face the top seed Mustangs on day one.

Ariana is one of the few true post players in the tournament. She is comfortable with her back to the basket and defends the position well also. She can block shots while staying out of foul trouble.

Crystal can go on a hot streak from the perimeter and reel of double digit three pointers without a miss if you let her shoot. She is sneaky slipping out into the open area for a catch and shoot. She has a really quick release.

Amora has the speed and quickness to frustrate most every defender. Defensively she is a pest as well. Her game matches up really well against what we seen from McNamara's NyAir McCoy. I'm rooting for them to get far as we can only see that dream matchup in the championship game.

London will be needed to pull everything out that she has for Rosedale to get out of the first round. I wouldn't bet against them as I've seen her carry a team on her back. If co-captain Kiki Scott also plays at the top of her game there may be an upset in the making.
