This season has been a monumental one for [player_tooltip player_id='842633' first='Aubrey' last='Metzger'] of Central Lyon High School. Metzger has been a stock riser this season out of the 2025 Class at her Center position and because of that she has recently committed to Northwestern College (IA) to compete following this Winter. This year Metzger has really feasted by the rim in a scene on both sides of the floor. Offensively, she is averaging 18.5 PPG on over 71% shooting. That's one of the highest, if not thee highest shooting percentage that the state of Iowa has to offer at this moment. She is also grabbing 11.5 RPG, 3.5 on the offensive side and 8 on the defensive. This team knows to get Metzger the ball in easy positions near the bucket. If they can continue with that in Round One, they should put up good numbers against North Mahaska.

[player_tooltip player_id='782509' first='Kennedy' last='Brant'] is going to be prospect that picks up a lot of love this Spring/Summer if she competes on the road. Throughout the 2024-2025 season, Brant is having a memorable year posting a double-double each game with 17 PPG and 13 RPG. Brant is also the leader in her teams APG with 3.8, demonstrating that she does it all for her Rebels program. Their first round matchup will be a good one from an outsider perspective. North Linn is a seasoned beast with senior talent. If the Rebels come out and play their game, feeding Brant early and often, it should be a close one.

23. 13. 4. These are the numbers for [player_tooltip player_id='595151' first='Rowan' last='Jacobi'] this season out of Springville High School. 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists per game was the recipe for success so far this Winter and they are hoping to keep that rolling in Des Moines. Jacobi, a 6'2 PF and South Dakota Women's Basketball commit, is a handful near the paint with her height, physicality, and willingness to mix it up with anyone at any given time. When in the half court setting, Jacobi is a threat to make smaller defenders pay under the hoop with her strong moves on either side of the rim. Defensively, she not only rebounds. She is a presence in the middle that the opposing team always has to worry about. If they don't know where she is and don't account for her, she will have a great chance to altering the shot or recording a block. Her size and wingspan are the real deal so people have to pay attention. It'll be fun to see what Jacobi can do at the next level but she still has a year before that time comes so I'm sure she is focused on the here and now more than anything else.

St. Albert has held the #1 overall seed for the 1A Class all Winter long basically and that's because their mixture of skilled players, their calculated system, and their Will when it matters the most. This season has been a big team effort for the Saintes but their anchor has undoubtedly been SF, [player_tooltip player_id='901710' first='Avah' last='Underwood']. Underwood is a lengthy prospect that has been growing her game each offseason. At times she displays some really nice guard like tendencies while handling and her awareness also plays a key role in her success. Underwood is averaging a double-double this Winter in Points-Rebounds. If she can continue this trend this next week, St. Albert is going to love the way things play out.

Looking at the 5A Class and a lot of people think it's going to come down to two teams. Johnston and Dowling Catholic. If DC wants to break their losing streak to the Dragons, [player_tooltip player_id='582813' first='Ellie' last='Muller'] is going to have to control the middle the best she ever has. It's no easy task as if they do get there, she will have Virginia Tech commit, [player_tooltip player_id='311351' first='Amani' last='Jenkins'] across from her but Muller will have height and reach in that individual matchup. She just needs to play things strategically. This is someone that posted 16.5 PPG and 11.5 RPG throughout her team's 23 games. Not to mention that 16.5 PPG is happening on an extremely efficient 56% shooting. This is debatably the most dominant PF/Center that Iowa has to offer at this time so I'm expecting her to play that way. If that happens, the Maroons will make things extremely interesting.

The greatness of [player_tooltip player_id='837358' first='Natalie' last='Ramsey'] has been prevalent this high school season. We mention that Ramsey carries a lot of the weight for her team and that couldn't have been more true in their most recent contest. Ramsey helped the Lightning secure a State bid with a 40 point (14-24), 16 rebound performance. This performance is going to be one of those games that she remembers for a long time. Their next challenge is going to be a lot tougher when they suit up against Johnston on Monday morning. I'm sure that Ramsey will do work per usual, as she did average 23 PPG - 11 RPG this season and she produced those numbers in every way imaginable. She posted up smaller defenders, she hit contested midrange pull-ups with ease, and she stepped out to know down some 3 pointers as well. She would even catch and attack from 15FT in. If this group wants to come out victorious, it's going to take multiple producers from all over the floor. We will just have to see how everyone ends up coming out.
