Battle in the Emerald City: Standout Underclassmen (Part 2)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Auburn, Wash.—</strong> Oregon boasted some of the top underclassmen at the <em>Battle in the Emerald City</em>, a Select Events Basketball tournament that showcased some of the top grassroots teams from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Northern California over the past weekend. Ten <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2025/05/battle-in-the-emerald-city-standout-underclassmen-part-1/">standout underclassmen from the tournament hail from [program_tooltip program_id='1035055' first='Northwest' last='Select']</a>, Flight Basketball Club (FBC Oregon), and the Oregon Basketball Club (OBC).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>FBC Oregon</strong> played up in the 15U Pool A bracket, and <strong>OBC</strong> played up in the 16U Pool D bracket. Neither team made it to their championship game, but the 7th and 8th graders tested their skills and showed their merits against more experienced players. The 5-foot-10 7th-grader was mixing it up on both ends with the sophomores at the Battle in the Emerald City. Nash slashes to the rim and can pull up from deep. She's not afraid to take on her defender one-on-one. She has great handles and nice lateral movement with the crossover between. Nash is a smart defender. She anticipates the pass and jumps the lane for the steal. The Sherwood-bound 7th-grader stood out as a top performer on the court against Pool A freshmen at the Battle in the Emerald City. Borchardt runs the floor at a next-level speed, makes excellent off-ball cuts, and finishes strong at the rim. She rebounds, pushes the pace, brings the ball up, and finds the assist in transition. Borchardt has quick feet and is a great on-ball defender. The 7th-grader (2030) has nice handles and vision and gets by her defender with the hesitation. She's quick down the lane and finishes underneath with the scoop layup. Rose is a tenacious on-ball defender who beats the dribbler to the spot and denies the pass. The Sherwood-bound 8th-grader (2029) played up in the top 15U Pool at the Battle in the Emerald City. Sanders values possession and is a good shooter who can hit from deep.
