The [program_tooltip program_id='713074' first='Michigan' last='Cagers'] Invitational is a tournament that I brought my [program_tooltip program_id='715992' first='Lapeer' last='County Cobras'] teams to in 2023 and absolutely loved. I've continued to cover the tournament as a scout for Prep Girls Hoops and I'd like to highlight the qualities I find most appealing about this event.

First off, the price is right. Early registrants entered their teams for $225, which is cheaper than every exposure tournament out there. The value for the cost is outstanding. As you know, I will be providing live Prep Girls Hoops media coverage on X and post-tournament write-ups that include top performers from the 2029-2026 classes. Last year, several articles covered 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028 prospects from many attending clubs. There were plenty of NAIA, D3, and JUCO colleges at the tournament last year and there will be again this weekend. To top it off, attending college coaches will receive a free and printed roster book to aid their recruiting--most hosts charge for these books.

Most high school prospects will be playing NAIA, D3, or JUCO basketball, so the clubs attending have a golden opportunity to be recruited by schools suitable for their abilities. However, there will be prospects at the tournament who should be evaluated by D1 and D2 colleges. Another benefit of the Cagers Invitational is the facility. All games will take place under one roof on four adjacent courts. Nobody will be driving to different gyms located 30 minutes away or playing on courts tucked away in the corner of a massive facility. Every team has a great opportunity to be seen by college coaches and media at the facility because of the court proximity.

There are 26 different travel clubs attending the Cagers Invitational. As a scout and college coach this is a huge draw. I like to find new prospects in the state who aren't being promoted and every year there are new prospects playing for these smaller independent clubs. As a travel coach, it's refreshing to play new teams from different clubs that will fit your teams competitive ability. Many of the teams attending are alike in their competitive abilities, which makes the games more fun for everyone.

Here is a sneak peak at a few of the marquee 2026 prospects from different programs competing this weekend!

Sheridan is a well decorated West Bloomfield guard and she earned D1 All-Breslin Team honors by being one of the best players on the court against the state champions in the state semifinals. She creates steals on defense and has one of the best step back jumpers out there. Sheridan was recognized as a standout performer at the UAA Session One tournament last weekend and I expect her to be one of the best prospects in the gym for Michigan Storm Elite 17U UAA at the Cagers Invitational.

Savannah is a 6-footer from Davison who made big strides this past high school season. She flashed potential with her footwork, shot blocking, rebounding presence, and face-up driving ability. Savannah has developed her mid to outside range and will hit 3-pointers when she's open. I expect the colleges who come this weekend to see the next-level appeal in Savannah's game when they watch her at the Cagers Invitational.

Madleen picked up offers from Scholcraft and Lansing Community College last weekend--she's a scrappy/tough guard who energizes the team with her effort. Madleen can lead the team in scoring, assists, and steals on any given day. She impressed Danyle mightily as a distributor, creator, and defender at Jamfest. I anticipate another solid day for Madleen coming at the Cagers Invitational and she's a prospect for colleges to see with [program_tooltip program_id='932068' first='Michigan' last='Prospects'] 17U Mason.

Karissa has length, athleticism, and playmaking instincts that make her a promising prospect. She generates steals, drives to the basket for layups, and drains shots from mid-outside range. I expect her to turn some heads with Ladies F1rst at the Cagers Invitational this weekend and she's a prospect colleges should prioritize watching.

Emersyn was electric with [program_tooltip program_id='714458' first='Michigan' last='Cobras'] 2026 last year at the Cagers Invitational. She was one of the most effective scorers at the tournament. Emersyn drives hard to the basket and finishes with toughness in traffic. She gives the team a boost with her perimeter shooting and will be one of the guards to prioritize this weekend.

Eva was one of the biggest stock-risers last weekend at Jamfest with [program_tooltip program_id='1239167' first='MWA' last='Queens']. Her perimeter shooting, shifty downhill drives, tough finishes, and pesky defense grabbed the college coaches attention. Eva is a 2026 guard competing at the Cagers Invitational who should be a target to watch for coaches this weekend.
