A year ago, I crossed state lines to cover our Victory Region Finals, and once wasn't enough! We had 20 teams full of prospects suited for different levels of college basketball. In 2024, 17U teams from Florida, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, and Missouri competed for the crown of Victory Region champions. Kentucky was the most dominant state at the tournament, with four teams reaching the semifinals. Bluegrass Basketball ran the table (4-0), defeating Kentuckiana Hoops in a thrilling final game. Read More Here

This year's Victory Region Finals will see 24 teams from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin compete for the crown. As a Michigan scout, I will be seeing most of these teams and prospects for the first time. I'm excited to see some of the Midwest's finest prospects this weekend as the opening tip draws near. Here are a few 17U prospects from six states attending who could be in for a big weekend.

Danielle came to Michigan for our Hardwood Classic Showcase in December of 2023--she left quite the impression. Danielle was the top-rated point guard in Illinois at the time and hasn't flinched. At the showcase, she dazzled with her shifty crossover combinations, deadly perimeter shooting, downhill drives, and comprehensive impact. I'm thrilled to see her again this weekend, playing for [program_tooltip program_id='712446' first='Chicago' last='Hoops Express'] 2026 at our Victory Region Finals.

Karleigh was a key contributor for a Brandywine team that finished D3 runner-up in Michigan. She's a pesky defender who jumps passes to grab steals and causes deflections with her quick hands. Karleigh has a burst off the bounce that leads to layups and will be a guard to watch representing Michigan with Team Soil Basketball at the Victory Region Finals.

Richmond Heat was a semifinalist at our Victory Region Finals last year, and I'm excited to see them running it back again in 2025! Hadley looks like a point guard to watch with their 17U team. She handles the ball confidently with both hands, changes speeds, and finishes comfortably with both hands at the rim. Hadley is a threat from beyond the arc, firing with a confident release with balanced feet. She anticipates passes to snag steals, and I'm eager to see her compete this weekend.

A 6-foot-plus forward who can rip nylon from 3-point range, finish with touch at the rim, while imposing her will in the paint, is a commodity to have. Alyx can push the ball with pace in transition using both hands and knock down mid-range jumpers. Her length on defense and rebounding efforts will be a factor this weekend. Alyx looks like a skilled forward who could be in for a fantastic weekend at our Victory Region Finals--she's a prospect for Indiana Showcase Black 17U you won't want to miss.

Kreighton looks like a sparkplug guard who will be a factor for Iowa Prep 17U at our Victory Region Finals. She picks pockets with quick hands on defense and has the dexterity to finish layups with both hands at the rim. Kreighton can play the role of facilitator while also creating her own opportunities off the dribble. I'm excited to see her compete this weekend.

Teagan had an eye-popping high school season, averaging 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 3.1 assists per game--now that's an all-around impact! Teagan is a long 6-footer with Wisconsin 17U Academy who can create space with pocket dribble hesitation moves, finish with excellent footwork in the paint, and drain perimeter jumpers. She looks like a prospect from the Badger State who could draw a crowd at our Victory Region Finals.
