On June 13th-14th I attended the annual prestigious Section-7 at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa/AZ.

I watched around 30 local teams and here are some

Standout Guards Viewed

[player_tooltip player_id='836788' first='Skylie' last='Gonzales'] Mesquite

A high IQ passer who plays the game from the neck up. She will consistently make the extra pass and moves he ball like you should. She scores with quick bursts to the basket with layups, floaters and threes off the catch. Stock up!

[player_tooltip player_id='625055' first='Kinsey' last='Murray'] Valley Vista (Pictured)

A pure point guard is one of the best passers that I viewed from the AIA. She was throwing ropes thru the defense and keeps her dribble alive versus heavy pressure. She will score with threes, mid-range jumpers and gets downhill thru traffic.

[player_tooltip player_id='663049' first='Lily' last='McCracken'] Notre Dame Prep

The top junior in the state showed off. She shoots it easily off the catch or pull from mid to the three point line and then is deceptively fast to blow past her initial defender and uses a quick euro move. She sees the court well and is very poised.

[player_tooltip player_id='751754' first='Dashia' last='Richardson'] Millennium

One of the strongest lead guards in the AIA. She changes speeds so well and gets to her spots. She plays off the pick and roll perfectly and is a good on-ball defender. She will score with mid-range pull-ups and hesitations to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='530989' first='Tysyn' last='Johnson'] Valley Vista

A quick on quick scoring lead guard. She is very fast with the ball and is always in ready shot made. She will drill the three with deep range and comes with a super quick release. She also consistently pesters her opponents on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='807119' first='Terrais-Joi' last='Coleman'] Basha

A bigger lead guard with an insane wingspan to defend. She is long and quick to keep her opponents in front of her. She has real court vision to find a teammate in stride. She will score with cuts to the basket and perimeter jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='755552' first='Naliyah' last='Guidry'] Mesquite

A very fast undersized point guard is a good on-ball defender who can score. She will hit the three off the catch and is extremely quick on the break to blow past her opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id='921154' first='Addie' last='Prisciandaro'] Prescott

A quick scoring point guard who can fill it up. She is very calm with the ball and handles the rock well. She is a very good passer and knows when to facilitate or score. She will score with ball fakes and burst to the basket with layups and runners plus hit perimeter jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='892625' first='Natalie' last='Yanes'] Valley Vista

A skilled scoring lead guard is a two-way player. She is a quick on-ball defender and will strip opposing ball handlers. She shoots the three with a quick release and it looks clean on every attempt. She is also a sneaky good passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='481475' first='Averi' last='Mehlberg'] Mesquite

A bigger guard who can fill up the scoreboard in a hurry. She has a pure stroke from the three point line and will give a hard ball fake and rise up after one dribble for a mid-range pull-up. She will also block shots and rebound and will defend her opponent with a motor.

[player_tooltip player_id='780451' first='Novelle' last='McQuiston'] Perry

One of the top bigger guards in the class can play multiple positions. She handles it like a point guard and calmly makes plays. She will go coast to coast getting downhill and can crossover into a pull-up from mid to the three point line with huge confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='751755' first='Bailey' last='Williams'] Highland

A scoring point guard can set the table but is looking to score more often. She has a very polished mid-range pull-up off the dribble and will rattle in threes off the catch. Her pull-up is very sudden making it difficult to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='836787' first='Isabella' last='Solis'] Mesquite

An undersized point guard is a very good passer up the court. She will lead her teammates to where they will be perfectly in stride. Offensively she is a capable three point shooter and has a quick burst. She will pick up her opponent the length of the court at times and plays a cerebral brand of ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='901250' first='Elleigh' last='Molinar'] Perry

A pure point guard who can score. She can throw a rope up the court to a teammate and then score with pull-ups from the perimeter. She plays at a calming pace and is getting stronger with the ball and is always in control.

[player_tooltip player_id='852321' first='Jaiyana' last='Bogan-Jacobs'] Campo Verde

A long guard who handles it well. Her length allows her to grab out of area rebounds and uses her athleticism and lateral quickness to pester her opponents to collect steals. She is a very good passer and is super versatile to play and defend multiple positions. She scores with runners, floaters and put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='754856' first='Jayla' last='Freeman'] Higley

A tough two-way point guard who is a fierce on-ball defender. She is a real point who tries threading the needle with her left and right hand. She has incredible speed with a crazy burst to get past most defenders trying to check her. Her defense can quickly lead to offense. Her and [player_tooltip player_id='625055' first='Kinsey' last='Murray'] were the two best passers I viewed.

[player_tooltip player_id='598326' first='Markayla' last='Shirley'] Chandler

A highly skilled scoring lead guard is tough and gritty. She can get to the basket and score thru the contact but she is a three point shooter with a quicker release. She can go on her own personal runs one by one.

[player_tooltip player_id='797310' first='Cherri' last='Hatter'] Desert Vista

The top sophomore is a natural scorer who can make plays. The lefty loves getting downhill with incredible speed. She can thread the needle to make a play and is a great bail out passer at the last second to find a teammate. She has great body control and a burst to score in the lane with a tough layup package with floaters plus will hit the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='852723' first='Kolbi' last='Brooks'] Desert Vista

A top-tier incoming freshman is a scoring point guard. She can split defenders with her super tight handle and throw the perfect strike to a teammate. She will score with threes, mid-range pull-ups off the dribble and gets to the line often. She talks on defense and is really competitive.

[player_tooltip player_id='912406' first='Contessa' last='Ivy'] Gilbert

A fast scoring point guard who plays with great energy and a big motor. She can jab step to score and will hit the off the dribble or catch threes in rhythm. She has quick hands and feet on defense.
