Williams Leads Gainers, Seizes Top 2028 Spot

After a full high school season and some summer ball under their belts a slew of prospects have joined the 2028 class rankings. The 10% rate of growth in the number ranked almost always leads to shakeups. Rocketing up the rankings to take over the top spot is a young point guard, DaLiyah Williams of Olathe North, who led her team to a fourth place finish in the 6A state championship tournament. Williams leads seven players climbing into the top fifteen. Enjoy a look at them below.    Williams' play in the Eagles' 6A state tournament win over Olathe South showed how tough and mature her game was on both ends of the floor. Her leadership helped 2026 class #1 [player_tooltip player_id='351760' first='Asia' last='Lee'] to concentrate on filling up the bucket. She leverages her strong frame and ball skills to work over smaller defenders, gets down the floor with purpose and makes good decisions defensively. Expect the Sunflower League third team selection to garner substantially more attention statewide next season.     Not only is Sullivan a major mover into the top ten but the 2025 Eastern Kansas League honorable mention selection heads into the 2026 season as the top power forward prospect in the class. On a loaded team that returns nearly everybody she averaged 7 pts, 4 rebounds and just under 1 in assists, steals and blocks. She shot 38/100 from three and 71% from the line as well. With good size, length and athleticism Sullivan brings transition speed including with the ball, finishing ability with either hand and defensive quickness. She will be a key piece in the Thunder's charge to return to the 5A state tournament. She only received one state level honor, SIK HM, but expect her to draw more attention by the end of next season.     Hannagan has an elite level ability to set up use of high ball screens, adjusting her decision to how defenses react. With her low dribble, strong handles court vision and passing ability she knows how to get the ball to teammates to make plays. Because she is arguably the greatest shooter in the 2028 class her ability to work in the half court makes her especially dangerous. Hannagan has consistent 35' range and will shoot it from anywhere off the dribble up, dribble moves, spot ups and more. Off the dribble she is a smart scorer, using a variety of shots to score over or around defenders. Defensively, she has quick hands and solid off ball vision to generate turnovers. Despite the lack of league and state recognition Hannagan consistently drew face guarding game after game.     Lucas' climb into the top ten is reflective not only of her being on the best scorers in the city but also due to her upside. She has good footwork, shoots the three with deep range and smooth release and is a polished finisher in transition or off the bounce. Her length enables her to get to passes defensively many cannot and has the speed to not get run down. Lucas also is effective at all three guard spots in the half court. The Greater Wichita Activities League honorable mention selection should garner solid state level honors in 2026.     Carter is a solid framed, physical guard who typically hounds top ball handlers on opposing teams. Her strength and quickness can be very disruptive. She also has a quick perimeter release and shoots it with range. Carter also scores it with a variety of shots including a sweet floater. Carter earned honorable mention selections from Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Div I and KSHSAA and SIK 6A.     The 2025 Greater Wichita Activities League honorable mention selection showed versatility all season, playing the point through the small forward spot. A three level scoring threat with a consistently strong motor Gary plays with intensity. Watch out when she gets into rhythm offensively, she will stretch the defense with her shooting and take advantage of gaps to finish against challengers.     Marcy plays bigger than her listed height. Usually playing on the wing she frequently draws power forward work on both ends of the floor. She runs well and is a very effective offensive rebounder. A Greater Wichita Activities League honorable mention selection, the Buffaloes will count on her steady play in the years ahead.
