I had a blast covering the event, and that blast was partly because of some explosiveness at the guard position, and always remember, I don't need a checklist to evaluate because I know what I'm looking at, which is why I am a REAL EVALUATOR, so who JUST DID IT for me

Singleton singlehandedly took games over several times, and watching her blow by defenders to score off the dribble was nice, yet so was seeing her drop the jumper while being defended. I hadn't seen her all club season; she left a lasting impression when I caught her in high school, but her NBA range looked good, and so did her "stop and pop" jumper in transition. She rebounded and went coast to coast a few times, she battled for loose balls, and she saw the floor, but her "on the ball" pressure also stood out

Guidry is showing even more explosiveness off the dribble, and that, coupled with power, as she attacked the basket, looked good, especially after seeing her finish strongly after contact, body control played a part in that as well. She hustled on both ends; her "on the ball" pressure was sometimes smothering and helped create turnovers. She created her shot but she also created contact and seeing her drop the "stop and pop" from deep had me smiling

Hanks is a "long and athletic" guard, which is the base and will always be. Her first step has gotten better and more effective because she can drop the jumper. If the defender gives her too much room, that's a problem because she elevates and has a quick release. If she's guarded too closely, she can get by them and score off the dribble. Her body control also looked good, especially after contact, and her defense both in the set as well as baseline-to-baseline was solid

Williams gave me a good first look as she was another "long and athletic" guard, and yes, that's still the base. I think her SPIN move in traffic to score sort of sealed it for me, and if that didn't, her crossover going full speed in transition definitely did. Her first step in the set got her to the basket with ease, solid body control on her finishes after contact, but peep this, she also showed she could finish with either hand, and I love intangibles. Her court vision looked good, so did her "on the ball" defense
