Nice mix of talented players showing potential in that 2030 group, and this class continues to impress me, and guess what, they were going against BOYS.

I just made a post that I'm inviting talented middle school players to the PGH Freshman Showcase on September 13th in Lake Dallas, TX If you want to see where you are against talented players without leaving the state. Use COLSONPGH25 for a discount, REGISTER HERE

Moreno falls into that #sizedontmatter group, and one more time, it doesn't matter because she can play. I enjoyed her getting after it off the top, and her "on the ball" pressure both in the set as well as baseline to baseline looked good. She scored off the dribble, had nice body control on her finishes, and she played the passing lane

Mire has the size and frame, and she understands how to use them both, on both ends of the court. Her skillset grabbed my attention immediately during the drills as she showed she could do things fluidly on both ends, something a REAL EVALUATOR picks up on. She scored around the basket and off the dribble, yet her court vision from the high post was very good. She also rebounded and defended well

Masias was another player who did a good job defending both in the half-court as well as baseline to baseline, and she just had a knack for making things happen to change the momentum. She read the floor on both ends, nice passes in traffic, and played the passing lane, but she also picked some pockets using quick hands. Her scoring off the dribble needs to be mentioned as well

Erebia handles the ball and saw the floor under pressure, and speaking of pressure, she applied heat baseline to baseline to help create turnovers. She played the passing lane, her court vision across the board looked good, and she made good decisions to go along with "playing within herself". Her deceptive first step was nice as she got the defender off balance to score off the dribble

Macken showed me she could score in droves during the club season, yet it's different now as she's had a slight growth spurt to go along with her being a "long and athletic" guard. Watching her create her shot and elevate and drop it was one thing; the "stop and pop" in transition was another. Her "catch and shoot" from deep is going to create some problems because she can also blow by defenders to score, and she threads the needle in traffic

Cortez showed me this club season that she could find ways to put the ball into the basket, yet she's another "long and athletic" guard who gave me a variety of moves to attack and finish, starting with the HEZ to get the defender leaning. Jumper was clicking, so was her court vision, but her "on the ball" pressure looked good, and so did her timing to BLOCK shots. She played the passing lane and elevated on her jumper to drop it with a hand in her face

Holmes is "long and athletic" and I failed to mention that was the base earlier so her powerful first step coupled with her strong finishes after contact was nice, so was her going coast to coast to score while being defended, yes, she rebounds on both ends. She saw the floor in the set, as well as in transition, her "on the ball" pressure was solid as well as her timing to block shots. To top it off, she played the passing lane and handled the ball afterward
