Transfers can make or break a team and even a program. They have the capability to turn a good team into a championship team. Transfers can also turn a dynasty program into a bottom feeder. It can be one player or a group of players but transfers almost always have an impact whether positively or negatively. Players are usually seeking greener pastures some finding out that the greener grass can have a lot of weeds and brown patches the closer you get. Here are some transfers that will definitely change the scope of basketball in the DMV.

Cai was set for her breakout season in the WCAC with sights on a third championship ring. She shocked the region with the announcement that she will be headed to sunny Florida and the IMG Academy to be reunited with her former coach Frank Oliver. Cai should bring an immediate payoff to her new program and her familiarity to the coaching style should allow for an easy transition. How does this impact Bishop McNamara?

Help is coming to the Mustangs in a dynamic way with superstar in the making [player_tooltip player_id='864319' first='Jaylah' last='King'] joining the program. This makes since for both sides as Mt. Carmel was depleted last season after early projections looked promising. Jaylah brings skill, length and athleticism to McNamara and should fit in nicely with Coach Ron James's style of play. She will be tested against some of the nations top players some of which she faced already during the summer. Bishop McNamara should be fun to watch this season adding Jaylah to the mix.

Jordyn leaving Sidwell Friends in a big blow to the Quakers. One girls loss is another girls gain as the St. James School is loading up to make a national impact. Jordyn has set her future up with a recent commitment to Maryland and can go out and have fun. She will team up with her high school coach Tamika Dudley who is familiar with her skillset as she is familiar with what her coach wants and expects. Jordyn is an all-American candidate and will be the center of attention for the first time as she has always played alongside other all-Americans.

A huge blow for Bullis losing the top player in her class to transfer, big gain for Ireton as they just lost their burger girl to graduation. Filling the shoes of Nyla Brooks is a big ask, however, Mackenzie has a path of her own that can be even more promising. She is just entering her sophomore season and comes in as one of the top players in the conference regardless of class. The Cardinals are dangerous as they are young and full of energy and Coach Kesha Walton knows how to get the most out of her players.

Labrea is well traveled in the high school basketball road and with that she comes in with experience in different coaching styles. This should pay dividends as I expect her to be the main players at the upstart Digital Pioneers Academy. She will have her opportunity to carry a program, which is a heavy load but I'm thinking she will be ready for the task. She will probably be ask to play all five positions on offense and guard the other teams best player on defense. We haven't seen Labrea's full potential yet but the season looks promising.
