July Stock-Risers in 2028

As the month of August begins, and I've had some time to sit back and consider what I saw during the two "live" periods throughout the month of July, I wanted to take a moment to highlight a few ladies in Indiana's Class of 2028 who I felt stood out with their play, and subsequently, who likely picked up a lot of momentum with regard to their recruitment.   .    Maia experienced a great deal of opportunity for the Lady Millers during her Freshman campaign, and you can see quite a difference in her game from last November to this July. She is incredibly feisty, skilled, and she plays with a great all-around feel for the game. She understands how to deliver it to teammates on time and on target, but she also has some experience playing off the ball and moves well around the weak side of the floor. She will never be tall, but her skillset, understanding, and toughness will draw her some legit college looks.     Zion's intrigue from the next level started back during the high school season. She has good size, an athletically strong frame, nice length, and she gets up & down the floor very well for a post her age. She, along with several of her travel teammates, drew a number of onlookers throughout the Summer, but I felt like her growth from March through July was tremendous. She looks more confident and immediate in her movements, she started to consistently score the ball around the paint, and she was a force at times on the boards and on defense.     I saw Lauren back in the Fall and almost didn't recognize her when I was able to see her at the end of July. She has gotten a little stronger, more physical around the basket, plus she has transferred from Lake Central to Illiana Christian ahead of her Sophomore year. Lauren has always been a nice inside-out forward. She has some touch around the perimeter and can bury jumpers, but she also plays hard and is willing to battle inside of 15-feet for rebounds. She eventually will be a solid wing defender, but she can also defend the paint.     I remember seeing Ava back in 7th Grade, and she was this little, feisty point guard who showed great potential. Fast forward to now, and she has grown quite a bit, gotten much stronger, and she plays with the ball on a string. She can create off the dribble and is a more-than-willing passer, but she has also continued to improve her perimeter shooting consistency, plus she is getting through the defense and absorbing contact much better. Additionally, she has become a savvy on-ball defender who can be frustrating for opponents at times.     Haley is one of those prospects who is "just a ballplayer". She has a solid to strong frame, nice length, and she plays with a great motor & toughness, plus she has a solid inside-out skillset. In the past, she has probably relied on her size & strength inside against her peers when she needed to get going. But now, she looks so much more comfortable around the perimeter, whether that's catching & shooting it, or putting it on the floor to get somewhere productively. She's the type of ballplayer who can plug in anywhere and help a team win.
