It's always interesting to see what happens over the course of 9th grade for any particular class of girls basketball prospects. From the time we first select a Freshman 50 in the fall, we see some players immediately trend upward and others who improve incrementally. Today, as we roll out our third update of the Class of 2028 rankings, we've got players of both varieties. Here are the biggest stock risers beginning with four prospects who made big moves in the Top 25.

MOVING UP IN THE TOP 25

#10 [player_tooltip player_id='918684' first='Quinn' last='Kemper'] – guard, Edina

Up 10: We've liked Kemper's game from the first time we laid eyes on her. What we've seen over the past year, however, is a whole different level of like. When we circulated our draft of this 2028 rankings update to evaluators over the past couple of weeks the feedback was unanimous: Quinn needed to move up. A lot. Kemper plays with flow. She's long and lanky, moves extremely well, and has a natural feel for the game. Her body control is very good, and she has nice touch around the rim. With excellent three-point range, a mature and composed presence on the floor, and consistently high energy level, Quinn is the real deal. She jumps 10 positions to #10.

#19 [player_tooltip player_id='786314' first='Tate' last='Addler'] – guard, Minnetonka

Up 9: Our scouts have been impressed all year with Addler's growth. Because she has not yet played significant varsity minutes, Tate wasn't as well-known entering summer play as some of the other D1 prospects in the Class of 2028. No more. Addler garnered plenty of attention from high-level coaches and is now firmly on the D1 recruiting train. If there was any doubt about what Addler can do, last week's Breakdown Fall League performance at Minnetonka cemented the impression that Tate is a prospect on the rise. As for her role on varsity on one of the strongest teams in the state? This is the year. Tate rises nine places to #19.

#22 [player_tooltip player_id='897050' first='Annabelle' last='Gothmann'] – guard, Milaca

Up 4: It was PGH scout Ally McGinnis who first spotted Gothmann in 2024 tucked away on a back court in AAU play early in the summer. Ally texted me to come have a look ASAP. Annabelle opened the 2nd-half of that game on a tear, ultimately bringing her team back from a 20-point deficit. I was sold. At this year's Sophomore ID Camp, scout Jared Stansbury had his first look at Gothmann and wrote this: 'My first note on Gothmann from Sunday was, “This kid can play.”' Indeed. Anabelle rises four more places to #22.

#25 [player_tooltip player_id='786398' first='Zaida' last='Jenkins'] – guard, Benilde-St. Margaret's

Up 8: Zaida was among the talented prospects who found her way into the 2028 Freshman 50 – the first ranking of the class one year ago. After working her way into a consistent role in a deep varsity lineup at Benilde-St. Margaret's, Zaida's ranking took a big jump from #45 to #33. Now, after eight more months of steady improvement, Jenkins is on the rise once again. Jenkins does her best work when she is on the attack, driving to the basket, putting defenders on their heels and finishing through contact. Zaida has worked hard to build a strong skillset that keeps getting stronger. She rises eight places now to #25.

THE BIG STOCK RISERS

#34 [player_tooltip player_id='897889' first='Madilynn' last='Bell'] – forward, Lakeville North

Up 25: The lengthy forward showed glimpses of greatness last winter as she found her way onto the court for Lakeville North every now and then. That potential earned her a place in the top 60. This AAU season, however, Bell blew up. Her ever-growing box of tools, her rising confidence, her increased physical presence and her physical maturity were notable. As we spoke with one college coach after another about Bell's next-level potential, it became obvious she was trending in the direction of D1. As a result, she soars 25 spots north to #34.

#64 [player_tooltip player_id='969766' first='Iona' last='MacNabb'] – guard, Richfield

Up 14: So much of what Iona brings to the table cannot be taught. Her quickness. Athleticism. Bounce. Court vision. Combine that with endless time in the gym to build the things that can be constructed and you have a prospect whose trajectory is up, up, up. The correlation between the improvement in Richfield's program and the enhancements in MacNabb's personal performance will not be coincidental as the crafty floor general elevates everyone around her. She is smart and savvy with just enough swagger. Iona rises 14 places to #64.

#65 [player_tooltip player_id='1094406' first='Kayli' last='Bigalke'] – guard, St. Michael-Albertville

Up 8: Showcases represent opportunity for players who have been putting in the time to get better. It's one thing to do good work behind closed doors; it's quite another to bring your game to the bright lights and show off what you've been working on. That is exactly what Bigalke did in September at the PGH Sophomore ID Camp. She was nothing short of impressive, demonstrating her improvement on both sides of the ball, her maturity on the floor and her willingness to sacrifice her body to corral the ball. Kayli rises eight places to #65.

#47 [player_tooltip player_id='989050' first='Jenna' last='Nelson'] – guard, Chaska

Up 6: Nelson is a dynamic, fast, and fluid guard who makes everything look effortless,. She commits very few errors, and her contributions can be subtle. Rest assured we have been paying attention. Gifted with the ball in her hands, she changes direction seamlessly, using artful dribbling and quick bursts to get downhill. At 5'9 with length, she finishes calmly over defenders and plays with remarkable consistency. Nelson can score from anywhere – slicing through traffic or pulling up from range – and her relentless attacking style keeps defenses on edge. She moves up six places to #47.

#52 [player_tooltip player_id='1209369' first='Kenley' last='Evers'] – forward, Andover

Up 4: Size matters. At 6'3, Evers has it in spades. That gives her an obvious advantage when it comes to being noticed and recruited. What really matters, though, is what players do to get better so they can take advantage of the opportunity before them. Evers is doing plenty to turn herself into a contemporary post player. Yes, she can hammer you down low. Yes, she has serious post presence. But Kenley can also bury threes in high volume with a smooth, confident stroke. Her ball handling has improved. So has her mobility. With a nice feel for the game, there's no telling how good Kenley can be. For now, she rises four more spots to #52.

OTHER STOCK RISERS

#18 [player_tooltip player_id='565313' first='Elsa' last='Retzlaff'] – The versatile guard from Hillcrest Lutheran in Fergus Falls moves up one position.

#24 [player_tooltip player_id='644912' first='Amari' last='Johnson'] – The lengthy guard from Hopkins rises one more spot.

#33 [player_tooltip player_id='992385' first='Anaya' last='Shaffa'] – The crafty point guard from DeLaSalle moves up one place.

#36 [player_tooltip player_id='990349' first='Jailynn' last='Sherill'] – The lengthy forward from Hermantown rises by one place.

#48 [player_tooltip player_id='990285' first='Kiyanah' last='McGriff'] – The big forward from Roseville is up four positions.

#66 [player_tooltip player_id='880951' first='Vaeda' last='Davidson'] – The quality guard from Duluth East moves up by one.
