The high school season is right around the corner and it's time to preview some of the younger players who will be called upon to make an immediate impact in their program. Some will be given large roles right from the outset, and some will have to be patient as they are stepping into more competitive situations. Here are my first five prospects you should get to know in no particular order.

Peyton will have a big opportunity to get plenty of minutes this season at Indian Creek. She's been running the point during their fall league play and has shown tremendous improvement with her decision making and ability to control the pace of the game and not get sped up. Her ball handling has been good, and she's been probing defenses, keeping her dribble alive and looking to set up her teammates. When necessary, she has shown that she can make midrange shots and floaters in the paint. If she plays with the same composure in the winter, she'll be hard to take off the court.

Kyndall will have to fight for minutes in a loaded Pikesville backcourt, but it will be hard to keep her off the court. She is super competitive and brings some swagger to the team. She has solid footwork which she uses to cut off ball handlers while defending. She has quick hands and good instincts, so she's been defending at a high level. These things will get her minutes. Her ability to make shots and handle some ball handling duties will keep her in the rotation.

Khloe is already known nationally as one of the top prospects in her class. Her number one ranking in Maryland is well deserved. Khloe is super aggressive on offense and puts constant pressure on the defense with her attacks on the rim. She's relentless and her motor runs non-stop. She is very skilled with solid fundamentals and will have the ball in her hands from day one. She is a tone-setter and will have the Panthers at or around the top of the IAAM A conference.

Mackenzie is a strong two-way player because she can dominate a game on both ends of the court. Her defense is usually the catalyst for her offense as she is equally dangerous in passing lanes or just stripping the ball. Once she gets out in transition, she's almost unstoppable because of speed and ability to finish at the basket. She's also a great passer with good vision and anticipation.

Dream is a tough pass first point guard that is also capable of putting up points in bunches. I was really impressed with her scoring ability in fall league play as she showed that she can make tough shots. She will have plenty of opportunities this winter as St. Timothy's is counting on her to carry the load and usher in a new era.
