In this article we talk about five players that stood out with some specific talents on Sunday at this event. That specific talent could be a number of things. Anything from shooting the ball, to defending at a high rate in the full court. Everyone is different but the point is everyone below showed out in the grand scheme of things against some valid competition.

If you are looking for someone to hit an open shot from deep at a high rate, look no further than [player_tooltip player_id='883553' first='Quinn' last='Pershing'] of Mount Vernon. Pershing just needs a little time and space to get her shot up and once she does, it usually goes in without it touching the net. This is someone that has made a ton of shots over her career in the off-seasons. She is dedicated to be the best version of herself every time she takes the floor and so hopefully we can see that live and in-action this Winter with the Mustangs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1057461' first='Sydnee' last='Hopkins'] of Spencer High School came into the event and showed that she is scrappy on both sides of the floor, especially defensively. Hopkins stood out through the day as one of the best on ball defenders that I had the chance to see. She also made smart plays as a creator and distributor to those around her, always looking to assist in one way or another. I'd expect Hopkins to put up some numbers this Winter with Spencer for her last go around. If she plays her game, she should thrive.

[player_tooltip player_id='1314849' first='Georgie' last='Duello'] was a younger prospect in the building but she held her own in most facets of competition. Duello has a solid mixture of size, touch, awareness, and coordinated balance. She is crafty with how she can attack her defender, always having a counter-move or two up her sleeve. Over the next few years, this is a player that will make a difference at Linn-Mar High School in Cedar Rapids. Especially if she continues to get better with age and experience.

There is promise to the overall game that [player_tooltip player_id='888299' first='Tiara' last='Berggren'] brings to the hardwood. Berggren plays the game the right way, she can assist others at a high rate and make everyone else around her better, she can score from all offensive levels, and she does all of these things while playing with a simple play-style. Berggren showed her worth several times on Sunday in skill work and 5v5 competitive play. If she can build on that momentum moving into this Winter, she will like the results that should follow.

If [player_tooltip player_id='1098694' first='Kendyl' last='Aarhus'] can find her rhythm early on this Winter season at Marion, she should put up respectable numbers as the year goes on from the PG position. Aarhus knocked down some shots from deep, she got to the basket off the dribble, she fed the post when her Forwards had an advantage, and she stuck with her opponent defensively at a steady rate throughout the day. All of those things will translate to the high school season if done correctly. We are only a month away from practice kicking off so hopefully she can use these performances as motivation!
