The new landscape at Nodaway Valley is going to be a very interesting one over the next eight months. They add some ballers in The Boswell sisters and that could help them all the way to the 2A State Tournament in the end. Their force in the middle will be [player_tooltip player_id='582809' first='Emma' last='Boswell'], the state leader in Rebounds from a year ago. Boswell comes over after her previous school closed down and she is ready to make a difference in a big way. I expect this to be someone who can absolutely dominate some games throughout this Winter season. She is going to have size and strength on most matchups and that will help them clean up the glass on both ends as a group compared to years past. If they play a strategic game each night, they should be able to take it one day at a time and come out successful on the other side.

We saw [player_tooltip player_id='1091292' first='Kamryn' last='Fink'] take the floor early on last season and she posted some staggering numbers on both sides of the floor. Fink, a 5'9 CG, is responsible for most of her team's production scoring the ball and assisting others but she is also a noteworthy rebounder as well. That might not jump out to most but she is very active on the boards, especially defensively. She likes to rebound and push the ball down the floor in transition at a high rate. Which usually ends in an open attempt in one way or another for her squad. During her Freshman year Fink recorded 253 defensive rebounds. Coming in second only to one other throughout the state, no matter Class or age-level. ([player_tooltip player_id='582809' first='Emma' last='Boswell'] - 293) We should see even more production like this over the years from Fink. She will continue to be their leading force so now it's all about how far she can push things.

[player_tooltip player_id='1307821' first='Paityn' last='Vanatta'] stepped up and showed her worth last Winter as a Freshman in almost every positive statistical category for Essex High School. Vanatta averaged 10 PPG, 16.6 RPG, and 1.1 APG. She did also average 5 TPG so that will be a place where she will look at grow this upcoming season but that will come with more experience. This was the player that was looked upon for consistent play in the middle of the lane for the Trojans. With her athletic ability and natural instincts, she made things look easy and that will be their hope once again this season. Others will need to step up around her if they want to post a better record as a team but that is do-able.

Not only is [player_tooltip player_id='782509' first='Kennedy' last='Brant'] a talented skill player. She is also hard working and dedicated to her craft as a whole. Brant is always trying to get better. She is coordinated and balanced in everything she attempts. She has great touch on the ball and she is always willing to move around on the floor to suit the needs of her team. This makes her an avid rebounder of the basketball. She is very good at finding her opponent, boxing them out first, then going to rebound the ball. When someone fundamentally rebounds like that, it plays well not only at the Varsity high school level but at the next level as well.

We mentioned Evans last week as a prospect to note with her natural height of 6'3 and how well she can protect the middle of the lane. As you can imagine, Evans is also a top notch rebounding force on both ends. She really thrives as someone who cleans up the glass on the defensive end more than anything else. As a Freshman, Evans registered 224 defensive rebounds in 22 games. This is only the begin. If she has worked on her craft this off-season, she should put up even bigger numbers over the rest of her career.
