[player_tooltip player_id='891985' first='Ava' last='Smid'] of DCG attempted 137 shots last Winter as a Freshman from the Forward position. You can attribute this to the Mustangs offense and Smid's willingness to work around the hoop. She isn't afraid to go toe-to-toe with any advisory that might cross her and that showed during her Freshman campaign. Now it's all about replicating that for her Sophomore season. Out of the 137 attempts last year, Smid converted 84 of them, giving her a rate of 62%. That's a very solid rate for a younger prospect in a seasoned system near the hoop. Now she just needs to continue to build on that this time around.

[player_tooltip player_id='1194714' first='Alaina' last='Gourley'] of Danville has proven that she is extremely tough to stop in the open court. Gourley was a consistent free throw shooter last Winter from the PG position. She ultimately shot the ball 222 times in 24 contests, converting 133 of those attempts. (59%) This is an impressive number in the sense that she got her shot in any way she wanted offensively for most of the year. I'm expecting more of the same out of Gourley this Winter. She is going to be looked at to be their main producer in multiple facets of the game so the more she can work on her weaknesses in the her off-time the better in the grand scheme of things.

MOC - Floyd Valley High School saw a lot of promise last season when [player_tooltip player_id='1091301' first='Brielle' last='Hoegh'] took the court. Hoegh, a 6'1 PF, is a problem for opposing teams to deal with in the middle of the floor. Her natural height is an issue for anyone that thinks they can walk into the lane for a simple attempt while she is defending. As you can imagine, Hoegh is a force to deal with offensively as well. During her first time on the Varsity floor last Winter she went 50-84 in total between the blocks as a scorer. I'm thinking over the next six months that this will be a main producer on both ends of the ball for the Dutchman. She checks off a lot of boxes already so now it's all about seeing what else she can put together over-time.

[player_tooltip player_id='896436' first='Peyton' last='Weber'] of Jesup High School didn't start every game last Winter but she definitely made her mark with her time on the floor. Weber is a natural forward with a lot of smarts, skill, and pretty good size to pair along with both of those things. As a Sophomore, Weber was efficient in her as a whole. She scored when the defense gave her easy reads, she rebounded consistently, she defended her position well, and she lead the others around her by her actions - not just her words. It looks like Weber will be looked upon for some similar production this season for her Junior year so I'm excited to see how that will play out.

[player_tooltip player_id='582806' first='Trishelle' last='Miller'] of Bishop Heelan is looking to close off her high school career with a bang. Miller, a 5'10 CG and SDSU commit, is one of the most talented prospects that the state has to offer. As a Junior last Winter Miller shot the rock 238 attempts, while converting 130 of those. (55%) I'm expecting these numbers to be much of the same over the next six months with how much Miller will be looked at to score it. She will have a talented group of others around her to take off some of the pressure but not all of it. This is a team that will have a shot at a 4A State Title before everything is said and done. They just need to take it one game at a time and they should be in good shape.
