The state of girls basketball, in Wisconsin, is looking stronger than ever! Here are some of the best performances in the Freshman and Sophomore classes from last week:

Leah Lord---The 5'8" freshman burst on the scene for Prentice putting up 28 points and 19 rebounds in her debut, against Spencer, and then followed up with 21 and 16 at Bruce. She is averaging 24.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game. Already one of Division 5's best volleyball players, I'm intrigued by her potential and how she will handle the increased defensive attention now that she is on everyone's radar.

[player_tooltip player_id='904623' first='Emilia' last='MontMarquette']---It would be hard to find someone who had a more efficient week, on either side of the ball, than MontMarquette. Over two games (1-1) she averaged 19.5 points on 73% from the floor and 64% from 3 (7/11) while being asked to guard the other team's best scorer effectively shutting down two D1 caliber players in the process. She also is averaging 5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 3 steals per game and looks like an early All-Conference/All-State candidate.

[player_tooltip player_id='1134483' first='Gwenn' last='Elliott']---Gwenn first got on my radar at The Expo, in September, as one of my top rebounders. I was certainly not as familiar with her overall game as she exploded for 40 in her season debut! The 6'0" sophomore was efficient shooting 50% from both the floor and three while knocking down 12/14 from the free-throw line pulling down 12 rebounds with 3 steals and 2 blocks. Gwenn is already getting D1 attention and should have multiple offers before the season is over and it's easy to see why!

[player_tooltip player_id='879596' first='Hattie' last='Grishaber']---Expectations for the Mustangs, winners on only six games, over the last three seasons was pretty low coming into the season. That is until freshman Grishaber burst onto the scene with a 20 point, 7 rebound, 4 steal performance in Little Chute's opening night win against Valley Christian a team that beat them by 20 last season. She was 8/16 from the floor, 3/8 from distance, and made both of her free-throws to lead her team to a 19 point victory and hope for the program.

[player_tooltip player_id='878990' first='Allie' last='VanVonderen']---Allie's overall game first caught my eye, at The Expo, in Appleton and her strong summer season has translated into the first two games putting up 35 points and 9 rebounds. VanVonderen, who was 83% from the stripe, last season, struggled a bit in the first game but seems to have found her grove going 2 for 2 in the second game. She will be key in leading the Vikings to, in my opinion, the top of the North Eastern Conference title and will only get better as the season goes on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278345' first='Quinn' last='Schenkenberg']---The 6'2" sophomore exploded out of the gate, for Shell Lake, putting up 31 points and 13 rebounds in the Lakers 85-30 win against Northwood on Tuesday. Quinn was one of the main reasons why Shell Lake went 23-3 last season as she averaged 14.1 points,11.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game, as a freshman, and looks to already be one of the more dominant forces in the state.
