She Got Game Classic (DC): Difference Makers in the Paint

She Got Game Classic in Washington DC had over 200 of the best teams on the east coast in attendance. There were also numerous international teams that were being represented. There was no shortage of talent anywhere. That was obvious when you walked into the state-of-the-art facility with ten basketball courts and there were at least five college coaches on every court. Some courts had baselines packed with high level college coaches evaluating and watching these young ladies compete.    Also known as "Baby Shaq" TaNya was a standout in the post-game. A very long and lanky 6'2 interior player that is a beast on the boards. She has natural athletic leaping ability that allows her to rebound the ball with ease and finesse. She does a good job of finishing on her putbacks. In my opinion Henson will continue to rise in the rankings.     Versatile and skilled Power Forward that displayed she is a force in the interior. She made up and under moves that allowed her to get the defense in the air and resulted in buckets. A strong force on the glass that opponents had a hard time keeping off the boards. Even showed the ability to step out and knock down the three ball.     A powerful and strong post player that dominated the paint. Nova used back to basket moves to score easy buckets. She was a true force when rebounding the ball. She also showed she could block shots. At times it appeared she was a head and shoulders over her opponents in the physical part of her game. A true center at the next level.     A dominating performance for Jakaila. She showed a lot of heart and grit coming back after being injured on Friday and was a beast on the court Saturday. One of the best games I have seen her play. She was a true leader talking and helping her teammates, hustled up and down the court on every play and made baskets and grabbed rebounds throughout the entire game. Definitely showed she a high-level player!     Strong physical post that does not mind contact in the paint. Taylor showed she can score with both hands on the block and finish through contact. She did a great job of sealing off her opponents and finding her way to the rim. She has nice hands and a good touch around the basket. Rebounds powerfully with two hands and gets the ball out quickly on outlet passes.     Baskerville played an extremely aggressive game on both sides of the ball. Defensively, she was using her body and making contact all through the game to make it extremely difficult for the opposing team. She had their post players frustrated and rattled due to her physicality. Offensively, she never backed away from contact either. Used her body to post up and hold off the defenders. Showed she can battle with the best of them. A true post at the next level that will sacrifice her body to win!
