The West Michigan Hoop Summit is an annual high school showcase I've been wanting to see for some time now. The stars aligned, and I was finally able to make the trip West to Aquinas College for an exciting day of Michigan girls' basketball. Five games, 10 teams, media coverage, free roster access for scouts and college coaches, concessions, and a hospitality suite; this event was well done by the host. Muskegon vs. Wayne Memorial and Grass Lake vs. East Kentwood were my two favorite games from a coach/spectator perspective. Stars and hidden gems both put their next-level abilities on display under the spotlight. Here are several 2026 prospects who had an outstanding day for their teams.

Tai'chiauna is a strong, physical, and athletic forward who grabbed my attention at the West Michigan Hoop Summit. She cut backdoor, caught the pass with good hands, and made a smooth transfer for the two-foot finish. Tai went up strong again off two feet for two points, crashed the glass hard to secure rebounds on both ends, and moved her feet on defense to stop drives. She read the point guard's eyes and jumped up like Aidan Hutchinson on the line of scrimmage multiple times to deflect passes to cutters. Jaya threw a great kick-out pass to a teammate spotting up in the corner for an assist and took a steal the other way with a burst for a breakaway layup. Jaya attacked the middle of the defense, spun, and drained the pull-up jumper. She took a DHO baseline around the defense, put her defender in jail, and beat the help for a two-foot finish at the rim. Jaya is a fiery two-way competitor and exciting playmaker who can play positions 1-4. She turned in a solid performance with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Mariah made her presence felt with a productive performance across the board for Wayne Memorial at the West Michigan Hoop Summit. Mariah distributed crisp passes to open teammates on the perimeter and excellent touch passes into the post. She finished a layup off two feet and chased down offensive rebounds. Mariah knocked down a clutch straightaway three-pointer to give the Zebras a 47-40 lead with two minutes to go and converted two clutch free throws down the stretch to help secure the win. Ja'Miyah threw a great kick-out pass to a spot-up shooter in the corner for three points and dished a nice entry pass into the low post for another assist. She worked hard on defense and caused a travel by moving her feet to cut off a drive. A play that captured Kate in a nutshell happened as an opposing forward attempted to pry a rebound away. Kate ripped the ball powerfully with her strong hands and swung the defender around like a helicopter. Nobody outmuscles, outworks, or takes the ball away from Kate. She went flying in from the perimeter to secure offensive rebounds, scored put-backs, forced fouls, and knocked down free throws. Kate sees the floor very well, handles the ball with both hands, and has excellent passing instincts. She had a comprehensive impact on the court. Kate led Rockford with 13 rebounds, dished out four assists, and poured in nine points at the West Michigan Hoop Summit.

Audrey is an unsung hero in the Rocford program who continues to make a huge impact on the court this season. She anticipated passes and picked them off for multiple steals on the defensive end. Natalia pushed the ball with pace using both hands in transition, attacked the gap with a crossover, and scored another left-handed finish.
