The West Michigan Hoop Summit is an annual high school showcase I've been wanting to see for some time now. The stars aligned, and I was finally able to make the trip West to Aquinas College for an exciting day of Michigan girls' basketball. Five games, 10 teams, media coverage, free roster access for scouts and college coaches, concessions, and a hospitality suite; this event was well done by the host. Muskegon vs. Wayne Memorial and Grass Lake vs. East Kentwood were my two favorite games from a coach/spectator perspective. Stars and hidden gems both put their next-level abilities on display under the spotlight. Here are several 2026 prospects who had an outstanding day for their teams.

Tai'chiauna is a strong, physical, and athletic forward who grabbed my attention at the West Michigan Hoop Summit. She cut backdoor, caught the pass with good hands, and made a smooth transfer for the two-foot finish. Tai went up strong again off two feet for two points, crashed the glass hard to secure rebounds on both ends, and moved her feet on defense to stop drives. Tai is a prospect at Wayne Memorial who could definitely help a college program.

Jaya was active in the passing lanes early for Catholic Central in the first quarter. She read the point guard's eyes and jumped up like Aidan Hutchinson on the line of scrimmage multiple times to deflect passes to cutters. Jaya threw a great kick-out pass to a teammate spotting up in the corner for an assist and took a steal the other way with a burst for a breakaway layup. Jaya attacked the middle of the defense, spun, and drained the pull-up jumper. She took a DHO baseline around the defense, put her defender in jail, and beat the help for a two-foot finish at the rim. Jaya is a fiery two-way competitor and exciting playmaker who can play positions 1-4. She turned in a solid performance with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Mariah made her presence felt with a productive performance across the board for Wayne Memorial at the West Michigan Hoop Summit. Mariah distributed crisp passes to open teammates on the perimeter and excellent touch passes into the post. She finished a layup off two feet and chased down offensive rebounds. Mariah knocked down a clutch straightaway three-pointer to give the Zebras a 47-40 lead with two minutes to go and converted two clutch free throws down the stretch to help secure the win. She put up seven points with five rebounds, a game-high eight assists, and four steals.

Hailey gave Catholic Central a boost with her perimeter shooting at the West Michigan Hoop Summit. Hailey used a great veer finish to convert a tough left-handed layup in transition over a post. She buried a smooth corner triple, drilled another from the wing, and knocked down a deep wing three. Hailey used her quick hands to deflect the ball away for a steal and contributed 11 steals with three assists for the Cougars.

Ja'Miyah is a long, versatile, and high-motor forward prospect from Muskegon who made a great first impression at the West Michigan Hoop Summit. She battled the entire game to secure rebounds and grabbed multiple offensive rebounds for the Lady Reds. Ja'Miyah threw a great kick-out pass to a spot-up shooter in the corner for three points and dished a nice entry pass into the low post for another assist. She worked hard on defense and caused a travel by moving her feet to cut off a drive. Ja'Miyah used an effective pivot to score an offensive rebound put-back and went up strong off two feet around the basket.

Kate dwarfs opposing forwards with her size, strength, and ferocity in the paint. A play that captured Kate in a nutshell happened as an opposing forward attempted to pry a rebound away. Kate ripped the ball powerfully with her strong hands and swung the defender around like a helicopter. Nobody outmuscles, outworks, or takes the ball away from Kate. She went flying in from the perimeter to secure offensive rebounds, scored put-backs, forced fouls, and knocked down free throws. Kate sees the floor very well, handles the ball with both hands, and has excellent passing instincts. She had a comprehensive impact on the court. Kate led Rockford with 13 rebounds, dished out four assists, and poured in nine points at the West Michigan Hoop Summit.

Audrey is an unsung hero in the Rocford program who continues to make a huge impact on the court this season. She crashed the glass and maneuvered her way into position to secure multiple offensive rebounds. She jumped into the passing lanes and poked the ball out with her quick hands, then took the steal all the way for a left-handed finish. Audrey looked to set up teammates and dished out accurate passes. She finished with a productive six points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals at the West Michigan Hoop Summit.

Natalia is a talented guard prospect in the Waverly program, and she showed plenty of next-level ability on Saturday. She split defenders with a dribble burst and changed hands smoothly to score a left-handed floater. Natalia created space to drive with a shifty double-crossover dribble and converted the layup. She anticipated passes and picked them off for multiple steals on the defensive end. Natalia pushed the ball with pace using both hands in transition, attacked the gap with a crossover, and scored another left-handed finish. She demonstrated excellent body control, balance, and confidence using either hand around the basket. Natalia led the team with nine points and added three steals. She earned West Michigan Summit Hoop Co-MVP honors.

Mya made winning plays for Grass Lake against a challenging opponent. Her dribble penetration and facilitation were important factors to the team's success. Mya distributed accurate passes on the move to cutters and perimeter shooters spotting up. She drove into the paint, used a sudden pull-back dribble, and hit an open teammate for three. Mya picked off passes on defense, crashed the glass to secure rebounds, and buried a long jumper on the wing. She posted a productive stat line of four points, five rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.
