If you want to stick on the floor during the last two minutes of a tight game, you have to be someone that they can trust with full confidence in the fact that you will make the right choice when it comes down to it. Whatever that choice may be. In this article we cover a handful of hoopers that coaches can trust when it matters down the stretch.

[player_tooltip player_id='603374' first='Claire' last='King'] might not be the biggest player on the floor at all times but she is very efficient in her actions. She is elite at creating off the dribble and hitting her open teammates for nifty assists. She is someone that can hit jumpers to no end when the ball is rotated back to her and most importantly - she doesn't care about taking credit for any of this. She just wants to succeed with her teammates by her side and that going to help her in the long run. If things are drifting down on the shot clock and this group needs to get the ball into their best players hands, I trust King to do that with ease. She can control pace of play at an impressive rate and I don't see that slowing down anytime soon. Wahlert Catholic is no joke. If you don't prepare for them, it's going to be a long time because of the strategic-play they compete with.

[player_tooltip player_id='880903' first='Addie' last='McLaughlin'] or better known asPG #1, is looking like the next Ava Zediker in my book with how well she can get a handle on any game she competes in. McLaughlin is a monster assister, a scoring threat from all three offensive levels, and she communicates with her teammates really well as their top-dawg. She would be considered a pass-first PG but she isn't afraid to slow things down to help her team control the pace of play throughout either. This is someone that really embodies what this article is all about. If McLaughlin was my PG, she would have all of my trust to go out and make good choices when it matters the most. She has done this her whole life on a national scale and we see that every night she competes for the Regina Regals out of Iowa City as well.

As of most recently, [player_tooltip player_id='502101' first='Madden' last='Wilson'] of Xavier High School has committed to stay in her hometown and compete with Coe College for the next few years following this Winter season. Wilson is another that you always consider PG#1 when she is lacing up her kicks. She is very good at understanding situational basketball and she can handle under high pressure without turning it over on a consistent basis. She has proven that over her career during the regular high school season, the Post season on their State Title run in years past, and during AAU season on the road with her [program_tooltip program_id='715980' first='Team' last='Iowa'] program. We have seen some noteworthy plays over Wilson's career but she is only going to get better once she gets to college if she stays mentally locked in.

Mount Vernon has been slowly sneaking up the leaderboards in their Class this Winter and a major reason for that is because of their veteran guard-play. One of the players that is helping their cause the most is Wayne State commit - [player_tooltip player_id='782508' first='Courtney' last='Franck']. Franck is a well-rounded player. She doesn't make many, if any mistakes when she is locked in and that been demonstrated at a high rate this Winter so far. Franck is definitely someone that I would trust when things get tight in a big game. She knows when to do what, she knows where her teammates are suppose to be and she won't force any unneeded actions unless the buzzer is about to go-off and she needs to make something happen out of thin air. MV is going to be a prime spot when Playoff brackets drop in a few weeks. They just need to take it one game at a time.

[player_tooltip player_id='609458' first='Emmi' last='Bartolo'] is a major piece to the success of Bishop Garrigan. If BG is looking for a State Title run this Winter, players like Bartolo have to step up each game and there is no reason why shouldn't at this point. Bartolo isn't the tallest but don't get it twisted, she can play. She knows how to play off of two feet on a consistent basis, she knows what works while trying to get others open around her, and she never seems to give up on a play down the stretch, showing her high motor and dedication to this craft. Like I said, BG could make some waves this Winter. They have all the pieces to the puzzle, now it's just about putting it all together.
