Once again, Colorado girls' basketball delivered a thrilling week packed with unforgettable moments. Fans were treated to great games and standout performances from all over the state. We had a battle of unbeaten Jeffco teams on Monday as Columbine defeated Arvada West 65-64 in overtime. Additionally, several programs are starting to show their dominance in league play. The following are the outstanding performances from January 12th to 18th.

Shout-outs

Columbine's Taylor Speir's game-winner against Arvada West. Speir had ice in her veins as she calmly drained a corner three with 1 second left in overtime. Hats off to both teams treating us to an instant classic on Monday night.

Overland's junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='736186' first='Michaela' last='Halton'] dazzled once again. She scored the Trailblazers' final five points in their comeback win over Thunder Ridge. Her clutch game-winning three-pointer with six seconds remaining secured the victory.

De Beque senior Avery Rigsby delivered a dramatic game-winning and-1 layup with 7.9 seconds on the clock. Taking a handoff from the sideline inbound pass, she powered to the rim and finished through contact. Her bucket lifted her team to victory over Caprock Academy on Wednesday night.

Skyview's [player_tooltip player_id='495828' first='Ariya' last='Nunez']'s game-winning corner three-pointer with less than two seconds left against Aurora Central. She looked confident taking that shot after a nice kick-out pass from [player_tooltip player_id='741921' first='Nyree' last='Smith'].

Eaton's [player_tooltip player_id='1198713' first='Courtney' last='Steinkamp'] soared to a career-high 41 points Thursday night against Ft. Morgan, dominating both ends of the floor and racking up eight steals in a truly impressive performance.

Buena Vista's Liz Molitor's putback with four seconds left lifted her team past Monte Vista 36-35. She followed her teammate's shot, grabbed the rebound, and scored. Another thrilling game that went down to the wire this past week.

Player Of The Week

Gilpatrick turned in a sensational week, filling up the stat sheet and leading Broomfield to a perfect 3-0 record. Her length disrupts passing lanes and she racks up steals for Broomfield in their press. She converts turnovers into fast break opportunities with her court vision, setting up teammates for easy buckets. Defenses are scrambling to adjust to her all-around game. Against Rocky Mountain, she used her size and strength to seal defenders for easy layups. Gilpatrick showcased nimble footwork and dominated the offensive glass. On defense, she contests and blocks shots, forcing opponents to rethink their approach. A fantastic week for the standout sophomore.

Averages for the week:
19.3 PPG, 9.7 REB, 2.7 AST, 3.3 STL and 2.3 BLK

Outstanding Individual Game Performances

Pedro put the Pirates of St. Mary's (Colorado Springs) on her back Tuesday night, pouring in 31 points to tie her career high. She set the tone early with a deep three off an inbound play. Pedro relentlessly attacked the rim, overpowering defenders for crucial baskets. St. Mary's Academy simply had no answer as she bulldozed her way to the free-throw line. A commanding performance from the senior forward.

Each time I watch Northfield, Taylor's game impresses me more. She clamps down on the opposition's top scorer, sprints the floor, and finishes in transition with effortless style. On Thursday against Cherry Creek, Taylor poured in 22 points on just 11 shots, wreaking havoc defensively with eight steals. She turned those takeaways into easy buckets and added two three-pointers for good measure. A sensational two-way showing from the standout junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='893434' first='Kortny' last='Brock'] filled up the stat sheet in Monday night's overtime thriller against A-West, pouring in 21 points. Brock was efficient from the field, making 8-14 including going 2-3 from deep. She chipped in six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. Brock sparked the Rebels with a quick 5-0 run, opening up the game with a driving layup and a three-pointer. She then added another triple minutes later. Her relentless energy and hustle set the tone for Columbine. A stellar showing from the standout senior.

Jones has been unstoppable lately, adding another outstanding performance to her resume. She dropped a 31-point outburst against Ralston Valley on Friday. Her efforts fueled Valor's comeback from an early 16-7 deficit. Jones capped off a Valor 7-0 with a nice baseline pull-up jumper to the end the first quarter. She added two more triples in the second quarter as Valor seized control. Jones has a quick release and continued her torrid shooting from deep, going 5-for-7 from behind the arc.

Ferguson delivered a great performance on Monday evening, dropping 23 points against Columbine in the overtime thriller. Her shooting was on point as she knocked down 3-out-6 from deep. Ferguson was clutch in the closing moments of the game. She calmly drained two free throws with 4 seconds left to send the game into overtime. In the extra period, she came up big again, weaving through the defense for a go-ahead floater. That basket gave the Wildcats a 64-62 lead with 6 seconds left. Ferguson's performance in this thriller proved her star quality.
