Cherokee Washington High School dominated Sheldon on Saturday evening with a final score of 65-33. Within the process of this victory, their best guard prospect PG - [player_tooltip player_id='832197' first='Addy' last='Wolfswinkel'], did what she does, leading all scores with 22 points on 46% shooting from the floor. These 22 came from all over on the offensive end. She made some baskets right at the bucket off the bounce, some from deep behind the three point line, and some at the free throw line (8/8). This helped Wolfswinkel demonstrate her ability to spread out the defense as an offensive threat from anywhere at any time. Looking forward and I expect C.W. to win some more games throughout these Playoffs. We excepted the main producers to step up right away this Post Season so it's nice to see Wolfswinkel thriving as they keep things rolling.

We saw a lights out shooting display from Ellah Wagenbach of Mediapolis High School in her team's victory on Saturday against Central Lee, pushing the Bulldogs to 22-0 and giving them one of the only remaining undefeated seasons up until this point in their year. Wagenbach is the type of shooter that if you give her space and time, she usually is going to have a good attempt at the basket. We saw that time and time again in this contest. Wagenbach scored 28 points on 10/15 shooting, including going 8/13 from behind the three point line. Not only was she the leading scorer of the game but she really set the tone for everyone else. She brought the energy, made sure everyone else was locked in, and she made a ton of shots while doing so. That's something you love to see. Mediapolis will now have Davis County (16-6) in Round Two on Wednesday evening.

Spirit Lake figured out early on in their contest against Estherville Lincoln-Central that they had an advantage in the Post with their height. After that they used this height and killed The Midgets with their back to the basket action between-the-blocks. The player that did most of the, "killing", for Spirit Lake was Freshman - [player_tooltip player_id='1202933' first='Albany' last='Reinke']. Reinke, the 6'0 PF, finished the game with 25 points (9/15) and 14 rebounds, leaving her with a convincing double-double to help her group move on. She also registered 3 blocks and 4 steals in the process, making her mark on both sides of the ball as a disruptor as well. Reinke's stat-line in this battle was obviously impressive but what is more impressive is the fact that she altered almost every shot near the lane that came her way. Her reach was difficult for opponents to deal with and that played a factor in their success.

[player_tooltip player_id='920715' first='Emily' last='Tanny'] might only be a prospect out of the 2029 Class at this time but she has been competing like a seasoned veteran as of late. Tanny has put together an impressive year as a whole with Wahlert Catholic but they aren't done just yet. Wahlert Catholic is a group that should continue to keep winning as we move forward. They have all the pieces and their pieces are superior to their opponents from the looks of it. On Saturday they won their first game of the Playoffs by 50 against North Fayette Valley and Tanny went ballistic in the process. She had 24 points (9/15), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 5 steals to lead the way. W.C. is in a favorable spot right now. They control their own destiny and that's a good thing.

Kock of Carroll High School posted the impressive stat line of 22 points and 17 rebounds in their 53-38 win against Humboldt on Saturday. These numbers were crucial as it was only a 15 point W but the more important number out of the two in my eyes is rebounding because out of those 17 total rebounds that Kock grabbed, 11 of them were on the offensive end. That's 11 second chance opportunities for Carroll as a whole. A pretty big number when you look at both programs total shot attempts on the ball game. Carroll always has a lot of success when [player_tooltip player_id='1162829' first='Ali' last='Kock'] has big showings. That's the theme this season. That means they are getting a good amount of production under the hoop in one way or another as a whole. Which usually leads to a victory in one way or another.
